If their Eurasian ancestry originated in Africa I would be singing a diff tune

Simply, Yes, because their countries are in Africa. No, because they don't consider themselves as Africans but as Arabs, which is why I don't mention them much when I'm discussing Africa. When you discuss their genealogy, North African populations are a complex mix of indigenous inhabitants, with added genetic influence from the Middle East, Europe, and sub-Saharan Africa. For example, the Imazighen (Berbers) who are the indigenous inhabitants of North Africa are the Amazigh people, who have lived in the region for over 10,000 years.
