@spumdonor Toon Twitter lives in a Dungeons & Dragons world where S. Korea is a heckin wholesome faction of animators whose obligation is to provide North American (man)children their slop. At least it isn’t Ayy Eye Generated!

When I ranted about this scene making light of the downfall of American animation, Toon Twitter showed up to tell me how it was just a silly little joke & real animation fans know that Hollywood *has* to outsource. A little later they all rallied around The Animators Guild to help make sure "artists get paid what they deserve." Not a single one of those inane Adam Conover videos mentioned the reality that outsourcing completely destroyed American animation artists' bargaining position forever. If a Korean studio is not only doing the actual animation for your show, & often the layouts as well, why shouldn't the networks pay you less to do the writing & storyboards? Maybe if these shows were well-drawn, they'd have to treat the domestic artists with more respect - but they're the Beanmouth art, which helps streamline the outsourced Layouts & Animation! Pretty convenient!

@StrangePages People were responding to the incendiary statement of "writing a comic requires more effort than drawing one," a sentence that betrays an otherwise benign stance that writers should do more than the bare minimum.

If you read the whole post, my point was clearly that, because artists have to put in so much effort to bring to life what a writer wrote, writers have a responsibility to put in as much, if not more, effort. Otherwise, what’s being written isn’t worth being drawn.

GUYS I made a cover for DC COMICS!!! I grew up on comics and am at @FPNYC basically every week so I cannot wait to pop in and grab a buncha copies 😎 My variant cover for DC x @AEW #2 is in stores March 11 and it features Wonder Woman and Toni Storm wrestling a ninja!
