@itslinklauren I think you have to be a tween girl to really get into Swift then later it's all just nostalgia. 50 years later or more, we still listen to the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Traffic, the Rolling Stones, etc. No one will be listening to Swift in 50 years.

I’m not a Taylor Swift hater, but when you hear these classic songs you question whether or not her discography will stand the test of time. She’s very commercially successful and has broken records. But I don’t think her music will have the same cultural impact as legends like ABBA, Michael Jackson and others who we still listen to 50 years later.

@itslinklauren Agree. She's a cultural phenomenon because she was manufactured to be, and forced on us. She's not remarkably talented, but she's relevant... Right now. She'll sell out for another 10-15 years, and then will be forgotten. Most of her music won't be played on classic radio.

I think you're right. Compounding Swift's problems is that you don't get any sense that this is an artist growing and changing. It's all just carefully packaged pop junk. Most of the pop stars today don't have a catalog that anyone will listen to, say, 50 years from now, like we still listen to tunes from the 60s - 90s.

@ruthpark337984 @caughtinthemadi I don’t know if you watched the Eras tour - it’s still available on Disney plus - but there were several points in the show where Taylor sings alone with a piano / guitar. But it’s a 3 hr show so she does a bit of everything.
