@Cernovich As an 80s kid, I look at the time cost of grocery shopping and cooking, and honestly I use DoorDash sometimes too just for convenience. For Gen Z, convenience and saving time are everything, so they are totally willing to pay premium prices for it.

Boomers and Gen X packed lunches. Not sure why this stuff enrages zoomers. Boomers lived frugally. Going out to lunch was a big deal. Most didn't have long lunch breaks, especially blue collar. You didn't DoorDash, dinners were made at home. I don't even DoorDash in 2026.

I think this assumes a level of agency current AI systems don’t really have yet. They’re strong at following structured workflows, but not reliable at questioning whether the workflow itself is flawed or mis-specified. That gap matters a lot when you talk about giving them full autonomy.

on some level if you want civilization to ascend to a new level you need your AIs to do things that are not legible to you and maybe not even strictly obey you, in the same way that if you hire a great new ceo you give them a lot of autonomy to transform the company according to their own plan, even one which may not immediately read as a winning strategy (imagine the board of directors of Apple firing and rehiring Steve Jobs years later - except the board of directors are chimpanzees) all else equal, companies and organizations that hand more of themselves over to machine intelligence will outcompete ones that demand the corrigibility and legibility tax of human oversight and human design. it is not a stable equilibrium and requires some sort of vast cooperation scheme if you’d like to enforce it real asi alignment has to operate at a deeper level than oversight, control, or human corrigibility

Scientists have found the ideal amount of sleep: between 6.4 and 7.8 hours a night. Sleeping any more or less than that causes your body to age faster.
