It's really not practicable to carry a set of industrial bolt croppers at all times when out monitoring stag hunts. This image is probably a split second from a video clip caught before the stag ran on. To suggest that the Sab could do anything is frankly insulting to those who are actually doing something to try and stop it.

I'm afraid this is a prime example why the threat of custodial sentences for Hunting Act offences is utterly pointless. Forget about this route acting as a deterrent to future offending and concentrate on threatening hunt staff with the loss their jobs and livelihoods. That can only be done by licensing hunt staff and barring offenders from ever working with hounds again.

How can someone be responsible for 40 deaths and not get the maximum 5-year sentence? Judges keep accepting endless mitigation while animals pay the price. It’s time the law got tougher and judges found a backbone. Enough is enough. People like this should be in prison for YEARS.

Just 38 MONTHS in prison for being responsible for the DEATH OF 41 DOGS ~ yet ANOTHER inadequate sentence!! 🤬🤬 Man appears in court charged with cruelty and fraud after 41 dogs found dead at 'Save a Paw UK' rescue centre during police raid over 'missing animals' OAVEED RAHMAN, 25, of Crays Hill, Essex, denied a charge of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and three counts of fraud. The 26-year-old pretended to be running an animal charity called Save A Paw, deceiving people into handing over their dogs which often included payment for rehoming and rehabilitation services. This is a major victory. Every beagle pack hunts illegally during the hunting season, yet until this case there had been only one — yes, one — police caution. Shielded by a veneer of respectability, foot packs have long been treated very differently from hare coursers

We've been on the out of control Portman Hunt today as they chased foxes over roads and through people's gardens as usual. This was moments after leaving the meet after the hounds found a fox in brambles surrounding a slurry pit. With @DorsetMonitor

I can see it reaching a point where everyday US citizens just start shooting ICE agents on sight. When they do, none of their neighbours will testify. Nobody will say they saw anything. Most importantly, it would not be an unreasonable reaction.

@_WBWP Did the road incident get reported as it's an offence under S27 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. Exemption doesn't apply to hunt staff. Also does Conall still have the twitch he developed dealing with @NDHuntSabs over the past few years.

What better fun can there be for a Portman Hunt rider than to stand and watch as a local, battles to remove a pack of hounds from her garden. Hounds went on to kill a fox half an hour later despite efforts of @NDHuntSabs

I've just read the Animal Welfare Strategy for England. Suprisingly not a word about banning the disgraceful stag hunting with hounds, which is one of the worst animal welfare issues. That certainly needs to be included.
