(Why do so many people with 4a hair think they have 4b hair? What is happening? Does somebody have an actual answer of something that occurred. Does everyone just think they’re a curl size tighter than they really are?)

New necessary question to ask in job interviews: “Do you have enough desks for everyone at the office?” Trust me.

The curl typing hair chart was created by Andre Walker, Oprah’s hair stylist from the 90’s, in order to to promote his haircare products. Initially it didn’t include “type 4” hair aka tighter coils, and when it did, stated that they required a relaxer. 🫤
Sweet Naje.@iluvvnaje

One of my more controversial takes: I don’t believe in the hair type chart. There’s no room for nuance and black hair is so complex, and that’s why so many people are so confused and triggered by it because you’re trying to put your hair in a box and it’s more complex than that.

@DoseofDes @prettyyinp1nkk_ @bitchmunk @battinsonhive this is what 4b looks like just after a wash, if she raked product through her hair and let it dry it would look exactly like the woman’s in the first picture. no finger coiling involved. the fact that you even assumed her hair wasn’t fingered coiled even more proves my point

@Bo50266 @bitchimyomuvaa @prettyyinp1nkk_ @bitchmunk @battinsonhive Products, technique, & consistency make a world of difference but people don’t wear their hair out long enough to experiment. My hair has looked kinkier than the pic on rh right and more defined than the look on the left depending on what’s going on.

@DoseofDes @bitchimyomuvaa @prettyyinp1nkk_ @bitchmunk @battinsonhive I watched a vid of a hair scientist ( black woman) who said the hair on the right is just un defined frizzy hair like you would see a mixed or white girl with curly hair frizzy, the left is defined with product! Alot of these girls dont realize that

@prettyyinp1nkk_ @bitchmunk @battinsonhive “one curl away” doesn’t matter socially. 4C is still treated way less acceptable than looser textures. that’s the point. it’s not just hair type, it’s how people respond to it which is why centering matters.

The hair type chart is fake & y’all would know that if you consistently washed and conditioned your natural hair.

@battinsonhive Hydrated hair = loose and mixed Folks never spent a month with their own hair & don’t realize most type 4 hair looks like this after consistently caring for it.

@aliyahInterlude Ugly mfs fair well in this country every single day. Even with wigs …that does not fast track a person into conventional attractiveness.

In a society where how conventionally attractive you are has a DIRECT correlation to your quality of life can you really judge black women for not wanting to wear their hair in a state that has been chastised for generations ????
