I get the impression had Wike slapped the soldier he would’ve slapped him back. Wike is a street urchin with a law degree. The land dispute could’ve been resolved behind closed doors not through a public display of raw power

This speaks volumes about the brazen arrogance of misfits in public office. Kudos to that poised young officer for schooling Wike on decorum.

My honest opinion is that you our media is sub-par. There are so many of us desperately seeking professional media like the olden days Guardian/ Concord/Newswatch/ThisDay (early days)/Vanguard. This story is unfair on the deceased' family, teaches no lesson and lacks humaneness.

@DoshimaJohn Unfortunately, the Nigerian government is used to promising the terrorists that they are coming for them. Sometimes they even tell them the kind of weapons they would use.

You cannot sneak up on the enemy when they know you are coming. Never let them see you coming.

We have a ridiculous tendency to hype people up before shooting them down. You can go from being a starboy, a hunted talent, to being labeled a Judas and betrayer in no time.

My coworker got promoted over me. He was worse at coding. Better at politics. I wrote better code. Fixed more bugs. Shipped faster. He talked in meetings. Took credit. Played the game. He got the promotion. I got "keep up the good work". That's when I realized: corporate rewards politics, not performance. Six months later I quit. Started freelancing. Now I make 3x his salary. No politics. No credit-stealing. Just solving problems and getting paid directly. The best developers rarely get promoted. They get used. Companies optimize for compliance and communication. Not competence. If you're technically great but politically terrible, you'll never win at corporations. Leave. Build your own thing. Get paid for your actual value.

The thing is that our dysfunction & chaos are a lucrative business that pays handsomely, and many people now want to be part of it by hook or by crook. Unfortunately, the dysfunction & chaos are approaching elastic limit, but our leaders remain adamant & ignorant.

My hiatus is over! I am however, reflecting deeply on whether this platform still serves useful purpose in leading progressive ideals for our country. I believe we have lost what we had before, objective-intellectual & rational discussions. I am still developing my exit strategy.
