@ultrabrilliant my best guess is that it's a mix-up/lost in translation of mentions about Daijiro Morohoshi and Junji Ito's "Uzumaki (Whirl)". Japanese often don't mention exact titles of commercial items so I imagine they said something like "that manga that sounds like 'a whirl'"🤷‍♀️

@ultrabrilliant I'm a Japanese native, I spent an hour Googling everywhere but couldn't find that exact manga-ka. Since the original article mentions "The conversation was a little disjointed, as such things tend to be with such a large language barrier" (cont.)
