Sixty one years ago brave foot soldiers crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge in a peaceful demonstration to attain voting rights, only to be met by state troopers with billy clubs. After a great event with folks in Selma this morning we stopped by the bridge to remind folks that Alabama is still ground zero for voting rights. We hope you join us in Montgomery tomorrow for the All Roads Lead to the South rally at the State Capitol at 1pm and then make your voices heard by voting on Tuesday.

Yes folks, we are still having primary elections in Alabama on Tuesday, May 19th and I would appreciate your vote for Governor. Lots of noise out there but the election will go on. Your vote is your voice so make it heard. Vote May 19 and let’s change Alabama.

Republican leaders in Montgomery wasted $400,00 of taxpayer money on a special session to give themselves more power. They haven’t done anything to make our lives better. It’s why so many Alabamians want change and will be sending them a message: Change is coming! Vote May 19th.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there, and especially my running mate Louise, the love of my life and the glue for our family. Y’all visit your momma today and if you can’t visit make sure and call her. As the great Bama coach Bear Bryant once famously said - I sure wish I could call mine.

What happened today in Montgomery was a disgrace. It was a complete circus that wasted time and your taxpayer dollars. The people in power made it clear they care more about politics than the people of Alabama. Your vote is how we hold them accountable. Alabama deserves better.

The Republican supermajority in the AL legislature has demonstrated time and time again that they only care about absolute power. This deeply disturbing footage shot yesterday by State Sen. Merika Coleman proved it once and for all.

And, from Alabama. Who your Governor is matters now more than ever.

Look who dropped by yesterday morning as we were moving into our Southside B’ham HQ. Stacey Abrams reminded us that we have to move so much more in this election. We have to move hearts and minds and importantly souls to the polls. Thank you Stacey for your great work and for your endorsement of our campaign to change Alabama.

Been a long day folks. And a tough, really tough day for Democracy. I am disappointed and angry - but not surprised - by today’s SCOTUS decision that effectively kills the Voting Rights Act. Here’s my full statement:

Happy 100th birthday Harper Lee! Alabama storyteller Nelle Harper Lee was born on April 28, 1926 in Monroeville, Alabama. Like so many, I learned early from To Kill a Mockingbird that real courage means doing what's right, even when it's hard.  I often quote this line from Atticus Finch, "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it." What a better world we would live in if we all sought to understand people who are different from us like Atticus did. Atticus Finch showed us what integrity looks like, a lesson I've carried with me my whole life.  On this Harper Lee Centennial Day, I'm so grateful for her voice and her legacy.

I absolutely love Alabama’s small towns and rural counties and I especially loved talking with everyone who came out for Donuts with Doug in Newville, a town with a population less than 600. Thanks to Henry County Democratic Party Chair Sherri Johnson for hosting and a special thanks to Mayor Rickey Allen for the tour around town.

Come on “Coach.” Quit just slapping a label that you don’t even know the meaning of on a group that you clearly don’t know anything about. But thanks for proving the point that the SPLC charges have nothing to do with justice but simply weaponizing DOJ.

Charging the Southern Poverty Law Center with a federal crime for paying informants to help dismantle hate groups is an outrageous weaponization of the Dept of Justice and the FBI. As someone who has been a prosecutor and has taken on the Klan I can tell you that use of paid informants is a common tactic used to dismantle drug cartels, the mob and extremist groups on both the right and the left. It is clear that all civil rights organizations are in the cross hairs of this Administration and that folks, puts everyone at risk.
