I saw The Odyssey yesterday. I thought it was a very good movie. I have some criticisms and disagreements. But, as I expected, Christopher Nolan deserved the benefit of the doubt. I’ll probably write about my deeper takes elsewhere, but I gotta say whatever you think about the movie, pro or con, I think the casting is one of the least important or interesting topics or themes sparked by the movie, even if you hated the casting. I get those criticisms as far as they go, I just don’t think they go nearly as far as the critics think.

Investigators say a Fort Wayne man cut off his penis, lit it on fire and then used it to set his mom's garage on fire.
Christopher Peden is charged with one count of Arson.
Peden was arrested last week and his bond was set at $10,000. He has since posted that bond.

I have no objection with criticizing Trump as a threat to the country, democracy, etc (depending on the specifics), but Murphy is such a hack to be going around hawking a book about improving civility and democratic norms while completely chickening out when it comes to criticizing anti-American radicals, socialists, and anti-Semites in his own party. It takes no courage for partisans to criticize their other party. If you want to be taken seriously as a champion of civility and the common good, police the people on your own “team,” because no one thinks you’re being anything other than a concern troll if you only denounce the other team. If you do that, your denunciations of the other side will have some credibility.
