The Maryland Aviation Administration has been informed that ICE is deploying additional personnel to @BWI_Airport starting today. We have been told by ICE their personnel will provide operational support and assist at @TSA security checkpoints to speed up the clearance process for passengers — not immigration enforcement. Passenger and baggage screening responsibilities will remain with trained, skilled TSA personnel. Americans are sick and tired of Washington’s dysfunction. The federal government needs to get its act together, pay TSA officers, and stop asking ICE agents to do work far outside their scope. As airports across the country continue to deal with long waits, travelers with upcoming flights should plan ahead, arrive early, and closely monitor airport and airline updates.

This is gonna be cheesy, but just bear with it.... My DMs have been flooded by the response to this tweet. Especially by other folks in Maryland who have had such horrible experiences in our state, especially with local governments. This honestly isn't even a partisan thing. I just want to pay my taxes and expect the state and local governments to make sure the roads are paved, the schools work, and the electric bill doesn't bankrupt me and my 3 lbs dog. That's it. That's the bar. I can't even walk down the city streets fully because the sidewalks aren't finished. My neighborhood Ring alert goes off almost every night with another shooting in the city. Packages stolen. Every night. And nobody in charge seems to be talking about it. You know what I do hear from my local politicians? National politics. That's it. Hot takes about Washington that get them likes and retweets and news bookings while the streetlights are out and the electric bill keeps SKYROCKETING. They've figured out that outrage about things they can't control gets more attention than fixing the things they can. And we let them get away with it because we're too tired ... everyone's exhausted from politics. This isn't about left or right. I know people on both sides of the aisle who are feeling this exact same thing. The single mom in Glen Burnie whose electric bill doubled. The retired couple in Pasadena who can't afford to register both cars anymore. The small business owner downtown who spent eight months waiting on a permit for his own property. None of them care about your Twitter beef with a congressman. They care about whether they can afford to stay. Maryland is losing people. Not because they don't love it here. Because they can't afford to. So yeah. Pay attention. Ask questions. Show up to the county council meeting. File the records request. Call your delegate. Be annoying. Be persistent.
