Memorializing Once-in-a-Lifetime Moments: Today marks the 5-year anniversary of the CoverWallet acquisition. Considering that we were acquired after just 4 years, this is longer than the time it took us to exit. When we signed the deal on Jan 3 2020, the exec team wanted to take a moment to appreciate what had just happened and memorialize the occasion — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience that few will ever experience. We gathered in a meeting room at our New York office and played one of my favorite classical pieces, which encapsulated the joy and delight of the moment (video below). Later, we celebrated with the ~400 CoverWallet employees at the time. Sometimes, it’s important in life to step back, take a minute or two to be present, enjoy the moment, look at each other’s faces and smile, and remember the moment with those around you. One day, you’ll look back and remember what you were doing on that day and who was there with you, and you’ll think, “I was there.” My advice to entrepreneurs: When you sell your company, make the closing moment memorable – and share it with your team (Entrepreneurship is a team sport)
