The villagers (the story goes), alarmed by this news, retreated to nearby Ashorne in a bid to avoid contracting the plague themselves. I am now resolved to take my own pestilence home, to avoid infecting my fellow office pals 😬

Both he and 13 day old Felicia succumbed to it shortly after💀

Also, they have new and much needed facilities! This church is doing tons of stuff for the local community so getting WCs in was absolutely critical! There’s a secret door in that beautifully carved oak screen to gain access to them.

I didn’t spend too much time inside this time as we were focused on the churchyard, but you can just see the 13thC detailing on the arcade which was added when the nave was enlarged - very pretty! Will take better photos next time…
