@PieAreSqwared My hypothesis is that SSRI effects on interoception could potentially relate to many SSRI benefits and side effects related to blunting of internal sensation, but clinical trials in patients with long-term treatment plans are needed to really test that.

@DrDanielCM What are your thoughts on PSSD? There was a recent study about Antidepressants causing hypermethylation in the amygdala region of the brain.

@citalopramstoic @DrSFink @CritchleyHugo @DrJLivermore @Sussex_Psych Sorry to hear it! With further research, this effect might explain emotional blunting and related side effects of SSRIs. For now, the effect of a single dose in healthy people won't be enough to draw that conclusion. It requires a clinical trial. This is just the starting point.

@DrDanielCM @DrSFink @CritchleyHugo @DrJLivermore @Sussex_Psych Hi Dan! I was just creeping around X and saw this post. I have PSSD (Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction) from Citalopram. Many of us report losing interoception (cannot feel pain, hunger, thirst, need for toilet, physiological fear).
