CNN: Tesla scraps Model S and Model X to build robots
"Tesla (TSLA) CEO Elon Musk, who turned an upstart electric vehicle maker into an industry-changing powerhouse, is pulling the plug on the two models that helped get him there, as he struggles with another quarter of declining profits and car sales.
He announced the end of production of two models – the Model S and Model X, among the company’s most expensive models, on a Wednesday earnings call. Instead, the company will use that factory space to build humanoid robots instead."

We reached out for help, but no matter how hard we tried, it was all in vain.

Every Tesla is designed for minimal maintenance & you can quickly perform many of them on your own
Swing by your local Service Center to pick up essential parts or order via parts.tesla.com to have them shipped to your home

I’m not sure this makes sense. Granted Elon is much smarter than me but here’s my 2 cents:
I don’t think sensor fusion is impossible, it just makes the system a lot more complicated. I can see an object, touch it, smell it, and my brain can fuse that all together naturally. I don’t think sensor fusion is inherently less safe, but it increases the complexity of the system and increases the number of failure points. Tesla’s main issue was that their in car radar was so low resolution.
Waymo can’t drive on highways with customers yet in part due to the range of the LIDAR sensors and tuning that for high speed driving. And because of the additional risk of high speeds. But they are actually running on highways now with nobody in the drivers seat and letting employees play with that. So I don’t think it’s fair to say they can’t drive on highways, they just don’t feel comfortable letting customers use it yet.
My favorite argument for why deep learning beats a multi sensor approach is that the large scale dataset you can build with a single low cost sensor modality is extremely powerful for increasing the predictive accuracy of the model. You may have all these fancy sensors, but if it means your dataset is a fraction of the size, diversity, etc than a vision only model might actually outperform in predictive accuracy and thus safety.
I agree with him that vision only is better, but don’t think the crux of that is sensor fusion

Hey @elonmusk & @Tesla_Asia, can you please clarify the after sales service policy here?
Some cars that were imported pre-July 2023 were refused service by Tesla Malaysia, which seems to run contrary to the policy below.

BREAKING: Tesla software update version 2025.14.69 has been released to address recent issues.
Some features are unique to Malaysia. Well done @Tesla_Malaysia
You can now have Autopilot stay at the speed limit in the overtaking lane and road hog like an idiot.
