@WilliamCherniak “ Careful patient selection is critical to determine which patients must be seen in-person for tests and other treatments” a mixed model has worked well for us and our patients. Alternating in person and virtual.

Dear Danielle Smith: I’m a Calgary OBGYN covering labour and delivery in Lethbridge today. This is a full-blown women’s health crisis and it’s about time you treat it as such. Feel free to call our unit. I’m working for 48hrs. Happy to discuss strategies #ableg

So in Lethbridge, Danielle Smith was asked how the local hospital can possibly deal with 2200 births/year with only one obstetrician. DS replied: "....(something) (something) home births."

@DrPrasaGR Yes! Also love when I have the chance to review the scans in a real time MCC discussion especially when used to inform treatment decisions (Ie in original tweet - has my cancer progressed?)

@DrJules_ This means that a patient interpreting the results of an imaging study should do so ultimately with input from the referring clinician. Harder said than done in our broken and further breaking system.

Are radiologists working in systems that recently migrated to EPIC changing how they report at all? knowing patient now likely see results prior to their treating MD who might have previously interpreted the results for them first? @DrPrasaGR
Lisa Richardson MD@RicharLisa

A loved one recently described their process to check test results (imaging to assess how the cancer has responded to treatment) on the online patient portal. It involves mindful breathing, being in a private space and building in time afterwards to calibrate and/or celebrate.

@SimonLo21054188 @DrPrasaGR @mossabas Yes! Us too! I wish the system had a built in fxn to go to ordering clinician 1st - in case additional clinical info might help clarify questions raised in a report. Recognize this delays time to patients + create more work for radiologist - but it’s in the pursuit of accuracy!

@DrJules_ @DrPrasaGR It’s not uncommon that a report is modified after I provide more clinical and treatment info to the reading neuroradiologist- we work as a team. @mossabas

@jenniedale24 @cantaskforce I have always hated this “anxiety” Argument.. so paternalistic. Give breast bearing folks the information and let them make the decision for themselves

Tragically, overestimates of overdiagnosis have been used by @cantaskforce to keep women from getting screened. So called harms of “Overdiagnosis” and the “anxiety” women can’t handle from a recall have been misleadingly conveyed to family drs to keep screening rates in low.
BCRS@BCRadSoc

auntminnie.com/index.aspx?sec… The benefits of mammography outweigh the risks of overdiagnosis -- especially since the overdiagnosis rate is low, a study published July 18 in Cancer Medicine has found.

Excited to hear @StellaHPE speak about her program of research and her clinical experiences as an Audiologist. Very profound to learn about how critically reflective practice might help us in #HPE and #MedEd.

Super proud! Well done to superstar #radonc registrar, Dr Mary Xu! 🌟An excellent #ESTRO2022 presentation on the utility of MRI surveillance of radiation-induced meningiomas in long-term #cancersurvivors @PeterMacCC. Multiplicity seen in >50% of surveilled survivors at 10 years.

May is brain cancer awareness month. Brain cancer is a diagnosis that hits close to home. CNS cancers make up only 1.4% of all cancers making this a rare but devastating diagnosis. (1/5)
