In 1895, four children with painful juvenile arthritis were treated by Dr. Sokolow in Germany with low doses of radiation. All four children had significant pain reduction and functional improvement. Dr. Sokolow published the results in 1898 and changed the game for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. X-rays were found to significantly reduce pain levels in arthritis patients, leading to the development of Low Dose Radiation Therapy (LDRT). #radonc
