Just wanna ask- how exactly, has making those pictures public helped you help the investigation? Did you even think once, that those pictures might also reach to her parents at some point? I must admit #Kolkata Police didn’t share a single thing. Show me one thing that any #Bengal based journalist has shown as ‘exclusive’? Not that we didn’t try but we didn’t succeed. I thank KP for that. I am certain #CBI too hasn’t shared it. I have had good fortune of knowing several officers and irrespective of the camaraderie they have always told me “Tamal we are very professional an agency and we don’t leak papers”. I respect them for that. I can bet no one & I REPEAT NOT A SINGLE JOURNALIST has the PM report. I have said this on air and to other senior Journalists as well. Thus everyone is trying to capitalise on the ‘behti nadi mein dubki’ as much as possible. Content creators are publishing stories far far far away from truth and getting millions of views. That is contagious- seeing that others have also started doing the same and the block chain was formed. Join the fight for justice, more the merry but plz don’t make fake news or such pictures your weapon. Not many people watch my stories and I am absolutely fine with that. But I will never use those pictures to sensationalise a story for few extra likes or subscriptions. I will not use a fake information for publicity. Many have texted me why haven’t I tried for the family’s interview? To answer them, I met with them few days back and one of their family members told me “you all are vultures, animals, surviving on rotis/ chapatis marinated in the blood of our daughter and her suffering”. She used the word ‘rakto makha’ in Bengali. There were other journalists standing there too who must have heard it. They were angry as how misinformation on Fighter had become information for media. I am yet to come to terms with that slap. It’s a humble request, stop sharing those pictures. There’s a family with their wounds still open. Help them heal, please.

Yes we need to evolve into a society where we ALL feel equally safe. But that is going to take decades. It’s going to hopefully happen with sensitizing and empowering our sons and daughters.
