This is the face of a Hindutva raj — rooted in the hatred of Muslims, and no longer something the government even bothers to deny. My latest for @AJEnglish. Dm for the full documentary link.

1/ #CitiesInFiction now has a literary map. Every book in our list is pinned to the place it is set in. You can explore South Asian fiction as a geography — which cities have been written about, and which are still waiting. 👉 citiesinfiction.com/maps

#AIsecurity #ResponsibleAI One of the hidden sides of #AI that Big Tech would prefer no one to talk about... Far from the billions of dollars in stock market value of tech companies... The plight of Indian women who annotate data for AI models... Between exploitation and cynicism in a system that has more respect for bits than for humans... 👇 ‘In the end, you feel blank’: Women in rural communities of India describe trauma of moderating violent and pornographic content for global AI tech companies theguardian.com/global-develop… v/ @guardian by @Anuj__Behal -- Cc @jblefevre60 @SpirosMargaris @EvanKirstel @roxananasoi @Ym78200 @Nicochan33 @DeepLearn007 @BroadenView @AkwyZ @mallys_ @CathCervoni @AlexQuiec @EliseVictor @Timothy_Hughes @omeroymak @mvollmer1 @Khulood_Almani @RLDI_Lamy @MarshaCollier @HaroldSinnott @monicapinna @Nad_Alves @CHRISTINESOTO12 @DominiqueCrochu

#Archives | In Gurugram, domestic workers organised for better wages. Their employers organised right back tto keep them underpaid and divided. When solidarity works against workers, the market is not free. @Anuj__Behal behanbox.com/2025/08/22/whe…

More than 50 years after India’s first nuclear bomb tests, health issues persist in the blast areas. While the Smiling Buddha operation marked the country's entry into the nuclear age, it left behind a haunting legacy in the desert villages nearby: a rising toll of unexplained illnesses with no cure. Vinod Kumar Shukla, the doyen of letters, is no more. He leaves a legacy in words, and a silent grace that feels almost impossible to imagine these days. At The Polis Project, we are grateful we were able to publish this profile.

As #Delhi's #AQI dips, questions are being raised about whether the city has enough air-quality monitoring stations. Delhi currently operates 40 automatic reference-grade stations -among the highest in density in the country relative to its area

When Anuj Behal first met 30-year-old Vicky Bhatt in West Delhi’s Anand Parbat during the smog-choked winter, he was in a rush—packing his bags for a week-long trip to Sri Lanka, where he was set to perform at a wedding with his dhol. “It’s my eleventh time going abroad for a show,” he said, casually counting on his fingers. “Germany, Poland, Canada—three times—London…” He trailed off, losing track of the countries he’d been to.

Delhi has 38 AQI stations, and each AQI station represents roughly a 2 km radius. Map them and you’ll see the problem: multiple stations stacked on top of each other in central areas—entire outer districts sitting outside any catchment. Read my latest for @IndiaSpend

Recycled fashion is promoted as being sustainable in the long run. But to keep prices low, companies don't take the liability to protect workers in "global South" countries, where they assume the value of statistical life is much lower than in developed countries.

From the wardrobes of the Global North to the dumping grounds of the Global South — discarded clothes reach Panipat, India, where workers breathe in dust and dye to turn waste into your next IKEA or H&M rug. (Sept / The Guardian) theguardian.com/global-develop…
