Technically in schools isn’t just devices. It’s access, connection, safety, and opportunity. Behind every system is a team of quiet problem-solvers who make the impossible feel routine.

#LigginsLogic: Leadership requires stamina-mental, emotional & spiritual. Protecting your energy isn’t selfish; it’s strategic. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Good leaders know when to pause, reflect & refill.

Lately, I’ve noticed a growing trend on social media of people who oversimplify what it means to be a school leader.
I get where it comes from. People want quick answers, catchy soundbites, and clear takeaways. But leadership, especially in education, is anything but simple.
Being a principal isn’t just about test scores or fancy initiatives. It’s balancing the needs of students, staff, and families. All while carrying the weight of decisions that ripple through an entire community.
It’s celebrating successes one moment and holding space for heartbreak the next. It’s late nights, hard conversations, constant reflection, and deep care for people.
When we reduce leadership to “just do this” or “stop doing that,” we unintentionally harm our profession. We make it seem like the work is easy, and it’s not. Great leadership is nuanced. It’s relational. It’s complex. And it deserves to be treated with that level of respect.
To my fellow leaders: your work matters deeply. The way you navigate the messiness, sit in the tension, and lead with heart...that’s what makes the difference. Don’t let anyone convince you that what you do can fit in a 30-second clip.
Keep showing up. Keep doing the hard, holy work. You’re making an impact that simplicity could never capture.
