@DeItaone If someone wanting to pass pays a fee then Americans will sanction him so effectively no one wants to pass Hormuz.

@ianellisjones I think they are talking about different straits

@ArmstrongEcon Does Your computer say something about suppression of oil demand through an engineered pandemic?

@ShaykhSulaiman But the roads leading to that state are different in both of those views.

🇺🇸 A U.S. Senator just asked why Iran is still blocking the Strait.
"Could you explain to the American people why with the vast investment we've made in national defense and military, how Iran after they are attacked by us is still capable of stopping the traffic in the Strait of Hormuz?"
Gen. Caine's answer: "It's a complex situation."
Durbin came back harder.
"As we talk about trillion dollar plus budgets for our military, it appears a very small budget is holding us hostage in the Strait of Hormuz."

An edible mushroom is invading forests across the U.S.
The golden oyster mushroom (Pleurotus citrinopileatus), beloved for its vivid yellow caps and mild flavor, is escaping cultivation and invading wild forests across the United States. New research from the University of Florida documents its presence in natural areas in more than 25 states, with recent sightings pushing south into Texas, Louisiana, and Florida.
This bright fungus is turning into a serious ecological concern.
Once established on dead wood, golden oysters aggressively outcompete native fungi, drastically reducing local species diversity. In one study, elm logs colonized by the invader supported far fewer native fungal partners—some of which play key roles in decomposition, nutrient cycling, and even human medicine.
The primary driver of the invasion is human activity. Widely sold as easy-to-grow home kits, gourmet market delicacies, and “mushroom log” inoculants, golden oysters frequently end up outdoors—whether tossed in the yard after harvesting, used to inoculate backyard stumps, or accidentally released with spent substrate. From there, spores travel on wind and animals, allowing the species to leapfrog across landscapes.
Fungal invasions have long flown under the radar. While invasive plants, insects, and vertebrates trigger rapid response teams and public campaigns, introduced fungi often spread unnoticed until ecosystems are already altered.
The southward march of the golden oyster is a vivid reminder that even edible, attractive species can become disruptive when moved beyond their native range. Protecting forests now means treating fungal biodiversity with the same urgency we give trees, birds, and bees.

@DeItaone Stock market does not reflect economy. Rates should be hiked to the % that oil supply volume is constrained. That would show the real economy stock market would face. For now oil reserves are powdering the mess.

STRAIT CLOSURE SHOCK LIMITED: GOLDMAN SEES ONLY MODERATE GLOBAL DAMAGE
Goldman Sachs says the 10-week Strait of Hormuz closure has caused only moderate global economic disruption so far.
Chief economist Jan Hatzius cites three key reasons: oil prices didn’t spike as feared due to high inventories and policy expectations; fuel shortages were eased by demand shifts like renewables and reduced travel; and strong fiscal support, the AI boom, and easy financial conditions helped cushion the impact.
Goldman expects oil to stay stable near term, with Brent potentially easing toward $90 by year-end under a gradual reopening scenario.
The bank slightly lowered U.S. recession risk to 25%, but warns risks remain elevated due to weakening consumer support, higher energy costs, slower wage growth, and low savings levels.
