@Zero_4 If she had been my patients’ Health Visitor in her former life, I think I would have been tempted to lock her in the broom cupboard.

@mancunianmedic Having worked in GP in areas of high deprivation I agree. However General Practice & Social Care are desperately underfunded and services such as Focused Care, which has much more impact in terms of “bang for your buck”, than Social Prescribing is being defunded @Sharedhealthgm

@TaraBull His gait isn’t right and he had difficulty stopping when she did. He could have Parkinson’s and no malicious intent.

@mancunianmedic Not that far from where I Iive but you have to time the pick up right to avoid heavy traffic delays spoiling the experience. Alternatively you eat them in the car park!

@JR60728681 @sophia_edw28123 @wesstreeting Join your practice’s Patient Participation Group and get a better understanding of the imposed conditions that ALL practices are working under. It isn’t their choice.

This whole fallout is doing patients no favours.
While @wesstreeting picks fights with GPs, surgeries are left dealing with the chaos.
Less teamwork, more politics; and it’s patients stuck waiting longer who end up paying the price.

@ShaunLintern What a lovely, generous lady! It’s hard losing a parent in any way but MND is cruel. It’s the 20th anniversary of losing my fantastic Dad today. He had mesothelioma which is equally cruel.
We remember them with pride.

Looking thru mum's finances. This is a real list of some direct debits.

@mancunianmedic He taught me at CXHMS when he was an SR & ran the firm as Prof de Wardener was often “on tour”.
Rumour had it that his local bakery made him bread without salt & I still heed his words, making my own with half the recipe quantity.

I was his SHO (and Patrick Vallance's on same firm) in 1992. Remember him well. I thought of him as old and distinguished but i now see he was several years younger than i am now

@Disillu24225329 @paullewismoney PIP isn’t awarded for the diagnosis, but for the impact the conditions has on the persons ability to care for themself. Dyslexia alone scores 2 points, which won’t get anyone an award. As with many things it’s more complicated than that.

This is scandalously inaccurate from the minister even for a party conference speech.

“Millions are getting benefits for anxiety and ADHD, along with a free Motability car.” Tory shadow minister @Helen_Whately lies at #CPC25 further demonising mental health claimants and deliberately stoking hatred and prejudice against disabled people. benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/shadow-mi…

@BBCSaturdayLive my word for Susie is “Circumlocution” it’s a wonderfully descriptive word and although rarely spoken, it is demonstrated regularly by so many in politics.

They laughed at me when I suggested in a few years your medical care may not involve anyone whose actually studied medicine. AKA a Doctor.
Louella Vaughan@DrLKVaughan
Genuinely shocked by the dilution of standards around the running of Urgent Treatment Centres (UTCs). Let's take a look! 1. UTCs used to be GP-delivered services. Then GP-led and MDT-delivered. Now NO mandate for ANY doctors to be involved in leadership of the service. 1/

Today @wesstreeting has shared publicly his concerns about yesterday's AD vote. I agree with every word. Each £ of money used to fund dying will be a £ removed from NHS & palliative care - which is already in desperately short supply for terminally ill patients. This is the care that so often helps patients feel life is still worth living. It's so deeply worrying, gnawing at my heart.

@ShaunLintern A white, male senior doctor……
One is left wondering if this would have been the same outcome for a senior doctor of colour or a female doctor?
That’s not to say that he won’t carry the burden of his mistake.
English

A senior doctor will face no sanction for failings in his care of Martha Mills who died days later from sepsis thetimes.com/article/041a7c…

@mancunianmedic @alisonleary1 @DWPgovuk From what I understand from someone who works for HMRC, they have, & although they are currently fronting a recruitment drive, the people appointed are not necessarily on an HMRC contract. I’m also informed that there is significant turnover in the customer services department.
English

@alisonleary1 @DWPgovuk I suppose they are public servants in understaffed, overstretched poorly resourced and supported roles. Just like nhs clinicians. Unless they have outsourced phone operations?

@BMA_GP At a time when patients struggle to see a GP, while fully qualified & expensively trained GP’s struggle to find jobs, because of failures in workforce planning by successive governments and a misguided plan to use less qualified people to do GP work, this is an important read.
English

📢 The Value of a GP
We've made it very clear: general practice is vital to a healthy NHS.
This new BMA report lays out the evidence – economic, clinical, and human – that shows why GPs are essential. Continuity of care is the remedy.
