I am late to the party here but just finished Mary Louise Kelly’s newest book, It. Goes. So. Fast. @NPRKelly, this physician mom of two young kids is sending thanks, virtual hugs, and good vibes for writing such an honest depiction of what we all struggle with. I feel so *seen*.

#MedTwitter #GirlMedTwitter After my first week of rounding on consults as an attending, it is clear I need to invest in better shoes! Favorites for rounding that work with dress clothes? 🥿👠👢Must be good for both walking >10K steps a day and standing for long periods 😄

On my 14th day of hospital service, I made it home in time to play with this guy and his super cool tower. Thankful for my career but no work accomplishment beats this amazing human being we are raising.

My toddler is sleeping in 20 min intervals tonight, so I’m going to do a thread about returning to work from maternity leave. There are 5 things I want to cover. 1. Pumping 2. Daycare and illness 3. Sleep and memory 4. Time 5. Demands. This is based on my experience in Aus 1/12

@ljhassen I feel seen by this post! Son is 2.5 and the sick days during COVID are super tough. And I generally get everything he gets, fever and all. Sometimes “present and still standing” at work feels like a win!

Great thread detailing some challenges of returning to professional life from mat leave… To add to this, US women who are returning much sooner than 7 mo (!!) may need to pump more frequently if nursing, some will still be healing, dealing with hormone shifts, less sleep, etc.
