If you can call it a break weather wise. Enjoy it while you can in SW BC and the PNW. Next week is starting to look really, really, really ugly too. A likely Category 4 Atmospheric River of the dreaded Pineapple Express variety. Is following closely on the heels of a rare Category 5 Atmospheric River that just devastated many areas of WA this week. This is definitely a worst-case scenario setup, and major red flags are being thrown left, right, and center on this one. I'm posting it now, so you aren't caught off guard. This forecast verifies, and you will see precautionary multiple major highway closures in BC. 96 hours out on these weather models is a pretty reliable time frame. @Adam_Stirling Another unfortunate contradiction would be tree canopy preservation versus solar power generation. Residential solar is great (I have a system, built using a 0% NRCan loan) but we need a viable incentive to get it on rooftop strata & commercial rooftops.

This was really interesting. Widespread adoption of solar panels will create a measurable financial cost that residents will be able to compute with respect to shadowing impacts from adjacent developments. This was rejected, but what if it went through? Electricity costs money, and lost hours of sunlight will matter. I’m not sure we’ve adequately considered our competing objectives here #bcpoli.
