@BlairWilliams26 The ABC did a piece of this late last year. The fine print in the policies allows up to a certain % of the company's revenue to come from thermal coal mining and other fossil fuel revenue. Story is here: abc.net.au/news/2023-12-1…

@aboutasteph You might like Padlet or Milanote - both are free up to a point and have a schedule template. They are basically a digital post-it board. I use both for different functions but prefer the Padlet interface for scheduling, but the Milanote one allows for more creativity

@BlairWilliams26 Had this exact conversation with a colleague that teaches undergrads. This is also happening in the life sciences, not all students or unis, but the transactional view of degrees seems to be a major issue. Doesn't help either where many milestone subjects have stopped being so.
English

@BlairWilliams26 Should also add. It's really cheap - using 2 or 3 times a day and the bottle lasts about a month ($15) and has the longest shelf life once opened compared to others we have tried
English

@BlairWilliams26 We have been using Flo travel nasal spray (always available at Chemist warehouse). Shown to have a 80% risk reduction. Shame the TGA is still sitting on the Viraleze approval
English

@BlairWilliams26 Probably also neglected the average number of investment properties our politicians have and the clear conflict of interest
English

@DrShaneRRR This was yesterday with our battery - 98% solar. The 2% is due to the drip feed the battery maintains with the grid. Low energy house too with the AC on most of the day.

English

@BlairWilliams26 We had the same issue with a vaccination for our dog. Told to wait a year. Requires 2 doses and no guarantee of supply for the 2nd.
English

@PutoczkiLab Wonderful news! Huge congratulations and such a great way to end the year.
English

@DrShaneRRR @sjwill99 @PalliThordarson I had to pick up as many teaching contracts as possible and worked 22h each weekend to make ends meet. By my 3rd year I started experiencing blackouts from burnout. Kudos Shane for having these conditions for funding.
English

@sjwill99 @PalliThordarson I think for a lot of students working additional jobs in excess of 70-80 hour research weeks is unsustainable.

At UNSW Sydney Australia in chemistry (AUS$ which is 0.65 USD):
Stipend $37,500
Fees = $55,000
Consumables & equipment access fees = $10,000
->$100K (US$65K) p.a. but mostly not from supervisor-see notes in thread.
Indirect cost for the uni is probably another $10-20k minimum. 1/

@talveon It's the end of the beginning as I've seen some epidemiologists put it
English

@drng I think we're going to be seeing this more and more. Very few colleagues of mine see a future in academia in Aus. We're not only loosing a pipeline of ideas in the current environment but also people and leaders.
English

@BlairWilliams26 If it's been 6 months or more since your last, pharmacists seem fine to provide it. DM me if you like, can share some details. Had a booster last week.
English

@briankirsty Yep correct. It looks like no detectable virus with CPC alone. These experiments were effectively performed in test tubes, so keep this in mind. The study does go on & test 4 products in people. Some worked really well. If I have time I'll compare those to what we have in Aus
English

@DrMieruszynski so the way i'm reading this - CPC without benzoate is so effective the result sits right on the x axis. Amirite ? thanks
English

@briankirsty Just note the y-axis is logged, so even the benzoate has a massive effect still. Working off the graph control viral titre is around 5 million and benzoate around 250.
English

@briankirsty I should have linked directly to this part of the thread. I'm not sure of the reason. But the presence of sodium benzoate appears to reduce inactivation of the virus: twitter.com/AltenbergLee/s…

@defairmans @noralove @noxygen @DMHerinya @Sandyboots2020 Check the label—the old formula didn't have benzoate. From this main study: "The reduction in virucidal effect of CPC caused by benzoate—in SCD Max, may therefore be due to it reducing the concentration of monomeric CPC." sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
