Is mining really that bad for the environment compared to other human activities, or is that just perception? As a scientist working in mining for nearly two decades, I look at actual impact vs perceived impact. When you compare mining to sectors like cities and agriculture, the standards, regulations, and expectations are not the same. This isn’t about ignoring environmental concerns, but about applying the same level of scrutiny across everything we do.

@TPS_32Planner @DrMoniqueSimair There's certainly enough natural gas in Alberta to replace coal, and then there's nuclear technology in which Canada once led the world. (CANDU). However, the ultra-supercritical coal fired TURK power station is a model for future coal use.

At some point, Canadians are going to have to stop apologizing and start competing. We have the talent, the capital, and the ideas. We just keep acting like we don't. We've done it before, we can do it again. Time to Build 🇨🇦

Do YOU feel you're getting good service from the federal government? 🫵 If you're not so sure, you're not alone. In fact, only 16% of people say yes. Our federal civil service is growing, but the results aren't. We can make efficiency a priority in Canada's civil service. 🇨🇦
Build Canada@build_canada

Our federal public civil service headcount has grown 31% in the last decade. Per capita, that's more than anywhere in the (core) G7. Despite this, only 16% of Canadians say they receive good value from government services. We can reform 🇨🇦's federal public service. 👇

In Canada, mining supports jobs, communities, and responsible development. We have some of the most stringent environmental and social standards for mining anywhere in the world. And... we should all be proud of it (I think I actually said 'be damn proud of' in the clip!). These resources are needed, and where they are produced matters. Link to full video in the comments

Most people aren’t actually “normal.” We just average across different traits and call that the standard. The problem is when you try to force yourself into that box, you lose what actually makes you effective. This is about understanding why “normal” is a flawed metric - and what to use instead. What’s an area where you don’t fit the average... and it works to your advantage? #OutlierMindset #SelfAwareness #MindsetShift #UncommonSense #PersonalDevelopment #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurmindset

That is misinformation. As a scientist who has 18 years experience with selenium, I made a post to share actual information about selenium and drinking water. Can City Water Treatment Handle Selenium from Mining? youtu.be/6XcTDmDs5aI Let me know if you have more questions about mine water treatment, management, and regulations, I’ll reply here and/or on my YouTube.

Edmonton has only one source of water: The North Sask. Danielle Smith will sell us down the river, for coal. Thankfully we have people like @CorbLund and @WaterNotCoalAB putting in the time, effort and money to keep our headwaters safe, for generations. It's time to sign.

What have you done today that didn't involve mining? Can you come up with something? I bet you can't... as soon as you think of the next step, it's a mineral! My favourite one so far has been 'sleep', my reply: on a bed? in a house? ;) We need mining for our modern lives, and Canada does mining best - the most socially responsible and environmentally rigorous in the world... and we should be damn proud of it!

Today's question was "can a municipal water treatment system treat selenium that comes off of a mine". The short answer: you don't have to, mines have to treat the water to a lower concentration than your drinking water! Link to full 3 min video in the comments.
