Why are parents chasing your officers overseeing vaccination? Does it mean there is lack of information about the whole matter of polio ?
Dr. Patrick Amoth, EBS@DrPatrickAmoth
@Asamoh_ @Asamoh_ an SIA, and specifically that of Polio, which is a disease that can be eradicated through vaccination, we target to vaccinate all targeted individuals, regardless of their previous vaccination status.
English

@Nyuka_Bel @Asamoh_ Bcos of the demographic diversity, variable health literacy levels, the salient mistrust and misinformation & the overt resistance to change, we at times have challenges in communicating public health information.
We will do our best to pass the correct info in a timely manner!
English

@Nyuka_Bel @Asamoh_ Daktari, we in public health always aim for the best, if not better. Public Health communication, as you have seen, is a complex field that requires careful planning, & cross-disciplinary collaboration to effectively pass our message in diverse populations.
English

@Asamoh_ We're activating all channels available to us to pass on the correct info to all parents and caregivers, and we hope we can count on you as well to be our messenger.
As you see, public health is very sensitive and personal.
We will do our very best to get it right!
English

@Asamoh_ Once again, you may be spot on!
Parents and guardians may not be getting our communication as intended. This is further confounded by disinformation and misinformation, and the infodemic that is perpetuated on social media.
English

@Asamoh_ We hope this gives you the clarity you sought.
Good evening.
English

@Asamoh_ The goal of SIAs is to quickly increase immunity in a population and reduce the number of people who are susceptible to disease. SIAs are intended to complement, not replace, routine immunization, which is the schedule of vaccinations a child receives from birth.
English

Where is the outbreak @DrPatrickAmoth
Ministry of Health@MOH_Kenya
All Kenyan children under the age of 5 years are expected to be up to date with childhood vaccines where they receive Polio vaccine at birth, 6 weeks, 10 weeks, and 14 weeks as per the routine immunization schedule. In the event of an outbreak, the polio vaccine is given to all children 0-59 months irrespective of their previous vaccination status - Dr Patrick Amoth, Director General of Health.
