@anzsgm The #anzsgm2024 dinner was amazing! Great food, great entertainment, lots of dancing well into the night and a surprise DJ set from keynote speaker @drandyclegg! Aus & NZ geriatricians can always be relied on to kick up their heels and cut loose on the dance floor!

I’ve been thinking about the future of aged care. Aged care planning currently assumes that future demand for residential care will decline with people preferring care at home. Yet people are increasingly moving into old age with insecure & unaffordable housing. Or homeless

Look what’s happening to home ownership in Australia. Today’s older people bought homes earlier & at much higher rates than today’s younger people. Less than half of people now in their 20s & 30s own a home. Our housing crisis has been building for decades

Awesome thread that resonated with my experience of that stage of my training. Perhaps I’m looking back with rose-tinted glasses; I certainly remember some very tough shifts and the odd rotation with unsupportive consultants, but for me was mostly a very positive time
