I recently saw a post of a doctor on instagram holding a trophy mentioning he was one of the top doctors in his category and he had written a long caption of how his grandfather would be really happy to see him win this. That award was available for 20K. How do I know this? I had received an email from the same magazine under a different category. And I am sure many here on #MedTwitter keep receiving it. There's nothing wrong in it but the problem runs deeper. I know that guy is a great person and a great doctor even without that award! The world however, is superficial and acknowledges only those who win gold medals, big trophies, etc. There are some awards which are won and some which are bought. Unfortunately, we have been raised up believing that recognition by someone higher up is the ultimate honor. So many of my clients tell me stories of how their parents would get abusive if they scored less marks in exams and that how marks in exams, ranks, etc. were their only source of receiving validation. I really hope this changes. While doing well in life, achieving huge things in life is important, it should never come at the cost of love and validation which is the birthright of any child. Parenting is a tough job. Very underrated. We really need a generation of emotionally available mature parents so that we can raise kids who have a good sense of self esteem and healthy coping skills. The good thing is, it can be learnt. Seek out help. Also, if you have struggled hard for validation all your life and are feeling burdened, it would be a right time to start therapy before you face burnout and start showing symptoms of anxiety and depression. If you heal, you will not pass it on to the next generation and world will be a slightly better place. Think about it. These are the top things most of us want to hear in our life-

During my second year MD, a man in his late fifties came to our casualty with chest discomfort in almost at midnight. He was the relative of a staff. He seemed fairly ok and claimed he had taken parotta for dinner. We did an ECG and it was normal.

Only 1 Medical institute - AIIMS D (Rank 9) In Top 25 Research Institutes of India List 2022. Why? Bcz UGs are preparing for NEET PG, Interns are bring Chai Nasta and completing files, and PGs are not getting time to sleep. Medical education in India needs transformation.

Idea 💡: To keep “Donation boxes or spare boxes” in every wards in govt hospitals. 👉🏻 Any patient who gets better can donate their extra medicines, equipments like dilators, tubes, milk powder etc 👉🏻 Others can simply donate some diapers for children, baby milk, toys etc

Hack for common people: 1. The rush is more in OPD on Mondays in govt hospital. You may likely have to wait more. 2. Most dept heads have OPD on Mondays. 3. Register under govt health insurance schemes like Ayushman Bharat or other govt schemes if you qualify for it.
