Agree, this is sinister and entirely predictable, picking off individuals and their families who will suffer the consequences as well. Trumped up charges against individuals exercising their right to protest peacefully could lead to an even bigger backlash than ministers expect.

On Monday, the Minister accused RTÉ of biased coverage. On Tuesday, he dropped his call for a review after meeting Coimisiún na Meán. Now he approves a €20,000 pay rise for RTÉ’s Director General.
