The Government has taken measures to mitigate against the unprecedented spike in global fuel prices ocassioned by the US/ Israel- Iran war.
With the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz, ships are taking longer routes and insurance costs have soared to record highs.
The Goverment has already reduced VAT on fuel from 16% to 8%, while 12 billion shillings from the fuel stabilization fund have been applied to manage prices, otherwise the prices would have shot to 300 shillings per litre by now.
President William Ruto has ordered an interministerial engagement of Cabinet Secretaries responsible for the National Treasury, Energy, Transport and Interior to engage with stakeholders to see what additional measures are necessary, and to make sure normalcy in the transport sector returns as soon as possible.
While citizens have the freedom to demonstrate to show their displeasure with the prevailing situation, criminal acts of arson, obstruction of traffic, looting of property and robbery of motorists and other innocent members of the public cannot be tolerated and will be severely punished.
The public is requested to exercise calm and patience as the Government contemplates additional measures to ensure that fuel prices do not rise to levels that will cause serious damage to the economy, in as much as possible, and cognizant that the present situation is caused by factors beyond the control of the Republic of Kenya.

This just happened in Githurai 45.
The driver of the car was advised to turn back because there were protests still ahead in Roysambu. He got into his car, rolled up the windows and put on an UDA cap.
When people approached him, he rolled the windows down again and shouted "TUTAM," which was a big mistake.
He didn’t know where the fire came from. Now he is in a ditch, watching his car burn down.

@georgediano Why was the car in the road ⁉️

We are used to the script now. This kipindi is meant to dilute the magnitude of the protest today by initiating a tribal profiling. This is to create an impression that the protests are initiated by those who do not want Mau Summit-Rironi road to be constructed. Kikuyus are the most likely victims of this propaganda. But as always, they won't succeed in Jesus name. We know who the enemy is, and we will defend the Mt Kenya people from all these tribal profiling. Stay guided!!!

July 14, 2022: H.E @WilliamsRuto said Kenyans are “angry and hungry because of soaring fuel prices.”
May 18, 2026: Diesel is Ksh 214. Matatus are on strike. Boda bodas can’t afford fuel

Instead of using the government jet, “Harambee One,” Ruto has decided to hire a luxurious Boeing jet, T7-BBJ2, for his three-day trip to Azerbaijan. The jet costs 18,600 USD per hour (about KSh 2.4 million).
The logistics for the plane’s crew cost up to 12,000 USD (KSh 1.5 million).
Parking a Boeing-sized aircraft at Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Azerbaijan for three nights adds roughly 10,000 USD (KSh 1.29 million).
Handling fees, diplomatic clearance processing, and airspace overflight permits across Africa and the Middle East add another 25,000 USD (KSh 3.2 million).
Don’t forget that State House spends KSh 42 million daily on hospitality and state receptions.
In the next three days, Ruto will spend more than KSh 300 million of your taxes.
Just imagine struggling so hard to pay taxes, only for them to be misappropriated through reckless public spending.
Nikikumbuka Ksh 80 bob in every litre of fuel is tax, hasira inapanda.

I am profoundly saddened to learn of the demise of Ms Rachel Wandetto, which happened this morning at the Kenyatta National Hospital following a heinous attack by a vile and intolerant group of people.
Her passing is deeply disturbing. No one deserves to be injured or killed for their political views or affiliation in this day and age. It should prick the conscience of those propagating politics of hate, violence and division.
When I visited Rachel in the hospital last evening, her face showed resilience and courage. It is quite unfortunate that she lost the fight.
We shall bring the perpetrators of this senseless act to book. Rachel will get justice. I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends for this painful loss.
The government stands with you in this time of immense grief.

What sort of logic is this really? Fuel pricing is a predictable monthly event! Every single month we know the price will be reviewed! Shouldn’t you “protect Kenyans” when conducting the review in the first instance? We are seeing a pattern here where Kasongo throws us pain first then “reconvenes” to give us Panadol.

In a joint statement, the alliance says passenger transport, cargo and logistics, ride-hailing, motorcycle transport, tourism transport, driving schools, school buses and private motorists will take part.
The alliance says the strike will take place in cities, municipalities, towns and trading centres across Kenya, and has called on private vehicle owners, farmers and business owners to participate peacefully.

GENTLEMEN: This inspiring story is for us. In front of you is Dennis Wawira, famously known as the Maize Guy on TikTok. By profession, he is what Onyango Tate would call a monocotyledon cremator, better known to many as mchoma mahindi. Like many young people out there, Dennis is a victim of a system that often fails the youth.
After losing both his parents, he was left under the care of his grandmother. Due to financial constraints and the corruption at NG-CDF offices that sometimes denies deserving students educational opportunities, Dennis was unable to continue with his studies.
His grandmother walked from one government office to another, doing everything possible to ensure Dennis and his siblings were not denied their right to education, but all her efforts seemed to bear no fruit.
Seeing his grandmother struggle, Dennis made a decision that many young men are forced to make far too early,, he chose responsibility over comfort. He stepped up to help his grandmother raise and support his siblings. Dennis used what was available.
He took an old jiko, a wire mesh, and that was the humble beginning of his maize roasting business. Every single day, he showed up with hope, determination & an unshakable work ethic. He never complained when business was slow.
Rain, cold weather, and difficult days never distracted him from his mission. Life often places heavy responsibilities on men early, and success rarely comes without sacrifice, struggle, and persistence. Dennis understood this.
He mastered his craft, shared his journey online, and eventually became an internet sensation. Customers started flocking to his kibanda for his delicious mahindi choma. From selling just 30 cobs a day, Dennis now sells between 700 and 1,000 cobs daily.
He showed up consistently, without excuses. Today, through hard work and discipline, Dennis is celebrating a major milestone,, he has managed to take all his siblings back to school, and he is now finishing the construction of a very beautiful, modern two-bedroom master ensuite house for the grandmother who never gave up on them.
In the video attached in the comment section, you can see the eyes of an old woman filled with pride, joy, and gratitude,, a grandmother watching a young man change the story of their family. So gentlemen, never believe your situation is permanent or that your struggles are too heavy to overcome.
Life has a way of rewarding those who show up with determination, discipline, and purpose,, not complaints, excuses, or regret. As we celebrate the boy child this week, I choose to celebrate Dennis Wawira, a.k.a Maize Guy,, a young man who continues to inspire us all. Roho ni iyo!!!
