@DeansKevin It’s really tough with coeliac especially for a child. Hope he recovers quickly and it doesn’t knock his confidence too much.

We never did get those free drinks, but the staff’s handling of the incident was something worth much more. (12/12)

We were on holiday recently, and specifically chose our hotel on the basis that they could provide gluten-free food for our 9 year-old son, who has coeliac disease. The staff were very attentive, and all went well until one night when something went very wrong… 🧵

@lowcarbGP @marksandspencer It’s not just an issue for diabetics. I have a rarer illness called reactive hypoglycaemia and carbs are a major trigger. I have to make nearly everything from scratch.

As a doctor specialising in T2 Diabetes I get REALLY annoyed when unnecessary SUGAR is added to products. Sometimes it’s hidden in unexpected foods Dear Marks and Spencer PLEASE CAN YOU DO SOMETHING ABOUT your coleslaw, pate, prawn salad There is even extra sugar in your roast chicken!! @TheBookshopMan I hear you. I hate starting a book and not finishing it. However I have decided my time is too important to spend forcing myself to read something I am not enjoying.

I have stopped reading my current book. It's the second book this year that I haven't finished. Is it me? Is it the book? I always finish books! Why has it happened twice in one year? Am I ill?

@DocNurseCherry @ashleyruba_phd It’s not always an easy transition as the work environments are very different. It’s a brilliant opportunity to inspire the next generation of nurses. Enjoy!

@Dr_JaneM @ashleyruba_phd Thank you for the encouragement. I've been in the hospital setting for almost 14 years and believe it's time for me to move into academics, because I genuinely enjoy teaching.

@DocNurseCherry @ashleyruba_phd I am a nurse academic and I love it. It can be a really hard space to be, but not always. Bring boundaries with you and use them. Academia is very good at tipping the work life balance without you noticing. Take what you want and need from it and give what you can. Enjoy the ride

@ashleyruba_phd Why is everyone leaving academia when I’m just about to move into academia?

@CharleyBaker1 I think it’s lovely. He can dip in and out when he wants to. It gives him space to explore his personal grief. That notion of still being ‘friends’ I think is particularly powerful. X

@bydavidsheard In that case we need to stop calling it dementia care. We care for people not dementia.

A key message at my conference presentation today “ dementia care training needs to shift from being about “ them “ to being about US exploring vulnerability as moral education -when common human experience is explored it becomes impossible to deliver a malignant culture of care

@emmafc74 @DrTamWatermeyer People are individuals so I don’t think you can say this is for people with dementia and LD. This illustration will work for some people. Forget the labels.

@Laconic_doc 2/2 and it was the unique methodology that generated the interesting results. It would be fascinating to repeat the study with a different community.

@Laconic_doc 1/2 Cultural influences are massive - I run teach healthcare ethics and law internationally and run a BSc Nursing in Singapore. I think the taxonomy and Lie Arm work for communication generally, but I am in the only person who has sone an ethnography in this subject area.
