Yeah this is bullshit. I taught in Johnston county and books are the least dangerous thing available to kids there.

Carroll Middle School parents & teachers are in support of ending the use of competency-based grading. Parents said they couldn't understand what a Level 1-4 system meant for their kids. Now they'll get more traditional grades on report cards. #wcpss

Black students are no more likely to misbehave than students from any other race…this disparity is almost exclusively the result of how we as adults choose to respond. We need to be clear about that.

The thing is that we wouldn’t be having this pepper spray conversation if that teacher had only been more engaging.
Then the student wouldn’t have had their phone out in the first place.
Also, posted his standard. A clearly posted standard will keep students off their phones.

@MoniseLSeward They took away Masters pay in NC. It’s very intentional to keep teachers in their place. If they pay us for higher degrees, they’re paying us to learn more. And the more we know… the less we are willing to comply with problematic policies. It’s gross.
