Do you know our calendar is bullsh*t? Kind of like everything else we've been led to believe about the world we live in. People in power have been lyong and manipulating since the beginning of time. Most people don’t realize this, but the calendar we use now isn’t what it originally was. Yesterday was the spring equinox, that perfect balance of day and night that ancient civilizations tracked like their lives depended on it, because they kind of did. They were watching the sky, the seasons, the actual rhythm of the earth, and they built entire systems around that. Then along came people with power, and they started adjusting things. The calendar we use today is the Gregorian calendar, not the original Julian calendar. The Julian calendar, which was introduced by Julius Caesar, sounded precise enough at 365.25 days, but it was just ever so slightly off, and over time that tiny error stacked up. By the 1500s, the calendar had drifted so far that the spring equinox was showing up about ten days earlier than it should have, which was a problem for people who were basing major religious events and authority structures around it. So what did they do? Did they gently tweak it, make a small correction, and call it a day? Of course not. They deleted ten full days. One day it was October 4, and the next day was October 15. Just gone. Imagine going to bed and waking up ten days in the future and everyone acting like that’s completely normal. Because to them, it was, because it came from the people in charge, and when authority says this is how it is now, most people just… go with it. Sound familiar? That doesn’t sound much different than what a lot of people do today. The government declares it, and people fall in line. Look at religion as a whole, COVID, wars, etc. The government waves its mighty pen, and most people roll over and simply abide by it. This wasn’t just some neutral, scientific cleanup. This was about keeping power aligned with belief and keeping control over religious timing, influence, and structure. When your authority depends on people trusting the system, you make sure the system works in your favor, even if that means rewriting the framework people rely on to understand reality itself. Again, not much different from modern times.
