@Chevalierkgb Ask them. Ask them if they will release dedicated server files, or if it is going to be like how Hell Let Loose works... where you have to rent a server directly from them and you never get to actually host the server yourself.
Ask them.
English

@DrakelingLabs Are you retarded, they said we will be able to host our own server's the same way dayz does.
English

@Chevalierkgb @WARDOGS Show me where they said you can download dedicated server files and host them on your own hardware.
If they are letting people pay to have their own cloud instance... that isn't the same thing, and doesn't count. It all still gets shut down if they get shut down.
English

@DrakelingLabs @WARDOGS They all ready said players can host their own servers.

@Pirat_Nation ... how can the stock be crashing any harder than it already has in the last 5 years... 🤣

English

Ubisoft stock is crashing after the company announced massive financial losses worth billions.
For years, Ubisoft was one of the biggest names in gaming, but recently, the company has struggled with:
>expensive game development
>delayed releases
>cancelled projects
>weak game launches
> players stopped trusting ubisoft
Now, after reporting huge losses, investors are increasingly worried that Ubisoft lost the ability to deliver good games.

I've decided I'm done replying to the AI slop comments and to people commenting negatively towards any content I've been posting or post that uses AI video because I honestly don't care enough. It is hurtful to see people I thought were kind and I have known for a long time be so ignorant and mean because of it. I get that a lot of people don't like it and I would never tell someone to not have an opinion but the ideology that an opinion is fact and all other opinions are wrong is the mental cancer of this world wide web.
English

@pixelnasu We've come full circle, where asset flipping is now a good thing instead of using legitimate tools lol
English

@studiopirat @softdrinktv It doesn't matter what it is. All that matters is how it was trained. If it was a glorified autocomplete that was trained on human works, then it doesn't matter. All of this can be verified by checking the dataset that the AI was trained on... assuming it ever gets released.
English

@DrakelingLabs @softdrinktv I don’t use ai to code but I think there is some distinction between using a glorified autocomplete vs handing the art direction of your game to a plagiarism machine. the plagiarism moral issue still applies to code but it feels less insulting to the player at least imo
English

This is wrong. If you expect indie devs to make games without using AI tools, you’re delusional. 99% of devs are using AI tools to assist with coding, indie or AAA.
We need to draw the line that generating AI art is slop, but using AI to assist with coding is not.

I need to rant for a second. Randy recently released a game called Terrafactor. 3 of the 5 negative reviews are upset because AI was used to assist with programming. None of them mention anything about the gameplay. People who leave reviews like this are sad and pathetic.
English

@DannyLimanseta So I'd actually say there is still utility to being mean to a model lol... but only if you want it to stop doing what it is doing.
I mean if it suggested killing someone or something immoral, I feel like treating it harshly would be a correct reaction. It is all just training.
English

@DrakelingLabs yes you're right. Essentially what we are doing is post-training temporal reinforcement learning.
English

Do you compliment an AI when it does a good job?
I do it pretty often, mostly out of habit, but I also have a pet theory that complimenting the AI when it does well gives it more confidence on the next task, which (I think) leads to better performance.
That said, this is purely my own anecdotal experience. Curious to hear other people's perspectives on this.

Joseph Gray II@jsg_squared
@rh_id555 @DannyLimanseta Yeah - I have sincerely noticed a lot of degradation being overly critical, admittedly sometimes downright mean to it and it has a frickin meltdown. You can even watching it's thinking and it poisons the rest of the session. I'm trying to find the X article I was reading about it
English

@DannyLimanseta Also... reacting positive/negatively I would argue is actually an evolutionary trait. It is literally a training tool.
We as humans "train" each other through negative and positive reinforcement, just like the models.
Being mean is literally just "reward = -1"
That's all it is
English

@DrakelingLabs Your logic makes a lot of sense. It seems like the odds lean towards being more positive towards the AI.
English

@softdrinktv We don't know yet. We have to continue letting things play out.
English

@softdrinktv Yup. All the time. I never said I was against generative AI.
English

@DrakelingLabs Do you use any AI tools to assist with coding?
English

@DaveShapi Depends on the product you're making.
If you're an energy company, then you don't really care about selling to the people you lay off... you just sell energy to data centers.
If you're a car company that sells primarily to humans... yeah.
Not all companies will suffer though.
English

@AndrewCurran_ So it begins. Top AI models will be classified eventually. Mark my words.
English

@olleshortz Did you seriously not already understand that this is how it works?

if you liked vibejam I present you open-source vibejam!

@Kaan37153 @OpHarshDoorstop idk man... compared to what? We have more daily players than 90% of the tactical shooters you see all the other streamers getting paid to fake enthusiasm for.
Seems like we're still doing well to me... at least compared to the competition. We're still just getting started too.
English

@DrakelingLabs @OpHarshDoorstop This project fell of hard man, not in terms of quality (one might argue) but rather in every other aspect.
But I like that you guys keep going
English

The next @OpHarshDoorstop update has a name. Introducing the "Tanks & Helicopters" update... which will include *drumroll* tanks and helicopters.
Also a lot more.
Coming soon. Stay tuned.
We are organizing playtests now. Retweet this post if you want in.
