Why is Physics Paper 2 so looooong?!

Going back through my camera reel trying to free up some space. Always interesting to try to guess why I photographed a particular practical. Any ideas what I was teaching year 12 in February 2019?!

@mprez22la @sbatch24 @PaulCaden1 That's basically how my six mark challenge started life. COVID lesson in the sports hall with 100 year 11s and no IT, so we did six 6 mark questions and then I kept going on YouTube! 😄

Anyone have a "how to" on answering the 6 mark gcse Chemistry questions? Want to see what's out there with the wealth of knowledge without reinventing the wheel.

@STEMyBanda I realised last year that I'd massively shot myself in the foot putting stuff on YouTube. They don't turn up to me anymore. They just go home, put on YouTube and then play on their phones 🤦‍♀️

@vievewright Excellent idea 🍩🍩🍩 I think I’ll treat myself to doughnuts tomorrow to help deal with the stress of the first science exam 😀 I might get a pack of mini doughnuts so I don’t count how many I eat 😂 Us teachers need to treat ourselves well during exam season 😀

I'm not crying, you're crying 🥰 With only 1% of the number of year 11s taking AS Chemistry, this probably wasn't a good use of my time, but it'll help a few people (including the five of my y12 who turned up for the live version 🫤)

@annastarsee @Hookean1 No AQA use vdW for instantaneous. Last year, wouldn't accept vdW of Cl2 > vdW of HCl (for marking point about all IMF)

@Hookean1 In chemistry: edexcel...van der waals is used for instantaneous dipole induced dipole forces, aqa use van der waals as the term.for.all IMF and London forces for IDDF. Some of this is historic. I think exam boards should agree on what terms to use. Consistent is vital

In a nutshell, this is why we need 1 exam board for Physics at GCSE and A-Level: Edexcel GCSE: Inelastic distortion AQA GCSE: Inelastic deformation AQA A-Level: Plastic deformation These were the 3 I checked. Consistency of language is important 😡

@StephenBrain @Hookean1 I think the allow here is down to whether it's true (usually with ref to CVs). Say you use dif acids with the same conc... it would be true to say same amount in place of volume. But if you use metal powders, and say amount in place of mass, that's inaccurate. Still ban it 😅

I spent the whole of yday making a triple version of my Physics Paper 1 video (couldn't even just add in triple bits as then it would be too long to export so had to rerecord EVERYTHING) but it's safe to say it's going down well. youtu.be/u-MPyxVx53k #teamscience #chatphysics
