At the behest of this Administration, federal law enforcement agencies tasked with protecting the public are instead murdering American citizens on our streets. This is not what these officers are trained to do and it’s putting everyone in danger. There must be an independent and thorough investigation into today’s murder of yet another U.S. citizen, and the President should immediately remove ICE and other immigration agents from Minneapolis. I voted last week to pass government funding to ensure FEMA and the Coast Guard can maintain operations ahead of a winter storm that will impact millions of Americans. However, I continue to strongly oppose ICE’s illegal operations in South Texas and around the country. If legislation comes to the House floor that prevents lawless operations in South Texas and across the country, it will have my support.
