@MGLnrd The format and colour scheme me think of Edward Ardizzone jackets for early Puffin, things like his Tim books or ‘Paul the Hero of the Fair’… but I can’t spot anything that quite matches on a google

Hive mind, I need you. I don't have many pictures of me as a child. Recently I was sent a home movie from 1980 and I'm reading in it. I really want to know what this book is. I'm 6. Does anyone recognise the cover? Please share.

Hello friends I am begging you all to every person who has a heart and feels our pain. We are suffering a lot from cold, hunger, and bombing. I ask you, friends, to stand by me for a little while and donate any small amount to help us. 💔💔 gofund.me/1be879ae

Tomorrow i'll be on the TV talking about Christmas books (and not mentioning the amazing high tension nativity sequence what I wrote in Millions). So. Favourite children's stories for Christmas. I'll start ... the Fir Tree by Tove Jansson

Joan Aiken's greatest work? The Felix trilogy, his journey to the edge of the known world, and a tribute to Gothic literature and Jane Austen of course...thank you Lory 💛 #WitchWeek2024 joanaiken.com/book_category/…

@MisterABK It’s like the food thing - they’ve taken the somewhat supportable ideas that English food is bad and names are stuffy but have no further info to draw on so fill in the gaps with the bad food and stuffy names from American culture

Have we forgotten John Gordon? I certainly hadn’t even heard of him until a friend recommended this magical little book. It’s like discovering a new Susan Cooper or early Alan Garner. Wonderful storytelling.

1988 radio show Saturday Night Fry (not to be confused with Fry’s radio chat show of the same name 10 years later) is even better: extraordinary scripts, fiendishly imaginative & genuinely subversive. As with series1 of ABO Fry & Laurie, tone is angrily leftist, not just liberal

Those Tony and Control sketches from series 1-2 of A bit of Fry & Laurie must be the greatest comedy sketches ever written. Something other than surrealism: experimentalism of a kind no sketch show has attempted (aside from maybe Absolutely’s Nice Family sketch)
