The Big Crunch on the other hand…oh dear. This show doesn’t work when McGovern isn’t writing it.

Nice little touch: the shopkeeper‘s daughter pointing out it was necessary for him to be exact about pennies in order to know what should be in the till, because he often got shortchanged by customers. It was Albie who was “assuming things” there.

It’s weird when people shame new readers. When a reader learns about an author they’ve never read before, that’s nothing but a good thing. Or are we all just supposed to download some canon at birth? That would defeat every purpose of reading.

Martin Clunes’ impersonation aside, the Huw Edwards drama was bloody awful. A weirdly generous depiction of the Sun newsroom too. At one point it appeared to tell us off for condemning the way the tabloids handled the story.

The US military has been preparing for war against Iran for many years, appropriated by Congress. A state does not run at the flick of a switch

First episode of the new Daredevil is so slumberously dull.

The beauty of Terrorform, and of “I’ve come to regard you as people I met” in Holoship and “the Sun & the Moon” in Promised Land, is the paradoxical way staying true to Rimmer & Lister disliking each other - and Rimmer & other 3 as a whole disliking each other - makes it moving

Series 10’s Lemons is more like a Hartnell-era historical - and engages more with history - than 21st century Doctor Who ever dares, Rosa aside.

Rewatching Red Dwarf. Greatest episodes are still Marooned, The Last Day, Holoship, Terrorform, Quarantine, Back to Reality, Out of Time and Lemons.

The British media have entirely invented a stand-his-ground Keir Starmer that bears zero relation to reality. He tried to give Trump access to the bases, the cabinet blocked him, then he invented a legal fig leaf and access was granted. This stuff is professional malpractice.

Nick Watt, "Keir Starmer said there is an attempt to put pressure on me and I'm not going to buckle" Yanis Varoufakis, "Except, he did buckle" Nick Watt, "Well, I'm not here to defend Keir Starmer" Yanis Varoufakis, "He buckled" Nick Watt, "Keir Starmer would say the UK is only part of defensive operations" Yanis Varoufakis, "In Love Actually the Prime Minister stands his ground. He doesn't speak up and then five minutes later u-turn"
