Did you know? 🤯
A single 16-inch gun turret on a US Navy battleship (such as the Iowa or North Carolina-class) required between 75 and over 150 men to operate efficiently, depending on the specific ship, crew efficiency, and intensity of combat.
This team handled the projectile, powder bags, and turret machinery across five levels.

@HouseChambers @SGTWipper1Each That's the one. CV-41

HMS Vanguard (23) was the last battleship in history to be built.
Commissioned 12 May 1946, she served until 7 June 1960 never seeing combat. She was primarily the Home Fleet Flagship, but participated in various training exercises.
The last of an era. Will they ever build these beautiful ships again?

@PatCraddock9 You're probably right. The concussion alone would ensure you didn't hear anything else for a week!

@DreadnoughtEra With guns that big, I am pretty sure hearing protection would be useless. 🤣🤣

USS Texas (BB-35) is a historic New York-class battleship launched in 1912 and commissioned in 1914.
As the only surviving dreadnought battleship and the only ship to serve in both World Wars, it is a significant Naval historical site.
Currently undergoing major restoration in Galveston, Texas, it is a permanent museum ship.
