Best thesis on $USAR
platochi@platochi

I'm long $USAR at $4B MC China's weaponization of REE outflow ends w/ $USAR The REE/CRML space hasn't yet priced in the Trump-Xi summit catalyst on May 15 (May OPEX) But that's not why I'm long $USAR I'm long bc of their new semis tie in w/ $MOG.A & $GFS HREE Bottlenecks & $USAR Catalyst Heavy rare earth elements are a major chokepoint for the US. China controls ~99% of global refining/separation for dysprosium and terbium, which are essential for high-temperature NdFeB magnets (defense, EVs, wind turbines). Light REE capacity (e.g., $MP Materials) does not solve this. $USAR will. Round Top (Texas mine currently being spun out) is said to have ~15 of 17 REEs w/ ~72% HREE enrichment in the basket, plus gallium and beryllium (semiconductor-critical). So far the market's been skeptical of the purported execution risks associated with the 2028 launch (see Jan-Feb short interest). But we've already poured $1.6 billion into USAR (loan + equity stake of ~8–16% via Commerce Department in January 2026), explicitly to build a full domestic mine-to-magnet chain. This is one of the largest and most visible government bets alongside $MP, $LAC, & $TMQ which $USAR is outperforming YTD. As we're heading into the Trump-Xi summit in Beijing where rare earths and critical minerals supply security is explicitly a major agenda item The White House will point to USAR’s > Round Top project > Stillwater magnet facility (already ramping commercial production) > LCM acquisition, & > Carester stake in France as concrete proof that the U.S. is successfully derisking from China. As a catalyst trade, we're a month away from the narrative being enforced so even if the market pulls back from it's extended rally, the REE sector is cushioned somewhat In addition, short interest on USAR has dramatically dropped & it's been leading all other REE/CRML companies with U.S. equity stakes AI/Semi Tie-In Via Global Foundries USA Rare Earth (USAR) integrates into the semiconductor/AI supply chain primarily as a domestic source of - gallium (for GaN/GaAs compound semiconductors and power/RF chips), - hafnium/yttrium/zirconium (for high-k dielectrics, chemical vapor deposition, and dopants in advanced node fabs), - beryllium (for high-performance alloys), and - NdFeB magnets (for data center cooling motors, robotics, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment). This is explicitly backed by the $1.6 billion CHIPS Act package (Jan 2026), which the CHIPS Program Office framed as solving “choke points in [the] manufacturing supply chain” for U.S. semiconductor companies But as of 1 month ago that was mostly a pie-in-the-sky connection Because they added ex-CEO & executive chairman of GlobalFoundries $GFS, Dr. Thomas Caulfield, to its board. GlobalFoundries is one of the largest U.S.-based semiconductor foundries (serving automotive, defense, and AI-related power/RF chips). No one on finX covered this Direct commercial offtake agreements with major semis/AI names ( $NVDA, $INTC, $TSM ) haven't been made public yet. But through Caulfield $USAR has connects with $AMD $GM & especially $AAPL which especially backed the REE space last year with ~500M commitments $USAR already has a hyperscalar connection through $MOG.A established in 2025 IF (big if) they're able to leverage existing relationships, then they derisk their Round Top investment with upfront offtake agreements across the semis space. Position I've positioned for the catalyst trade & overall macro tailwinds with a few options. Will convert them to shares if I see evidence of execution. Love y'all Platochi 😎

@Dreamchaser993 Just putting together information for folks to make their own decisions, though I do want to say my $USAR thesis is aging nicely!

RT @/chumba If you have a small pool of capital and insist on making it in public markets IMO you should be trying to find things that nobody else is talking about. Weird pockets of the market. Or things that are deeply hated where you have a variant view with conviction. Niche securities that provide you with non recourse leverage. Over leveraged balance sheets where the equity value can change with small moves in enterprise value, and then figure out if the company survives, and buy non recourse leverage on that equity. Companies that have some ick associated with them where mass psychology has caused a mispricing. ---- the most money in markets is made in finding opportunities right before they become consensus longs, or in identifying the shift from non-consensus to consensus as it is happening and riding momentum

@blknoiz06 Absolutely. That's how I got $HOOD at $9 and $INTC at $20. Looking at sectors and stocks that NO ONE wanted at the time.
