I remember taking the first photo 11 years ago in @Eugenia_Cooney’s bathroom. Kind of a crazy story that I think I’ve only spoken about on a podcast once. This was during one of the lowest times of my life. I was on bail in Pennsylvania, and didn’t really know anyone on the east coast. I had around $100 to my name and was searching through my contact list to see if I knew anyone who could help me. I saw Eugenia in my contacts from years before, from the YouNow community days, I thought she lived somewhere on the east coast. Called her and explained the situation, her & mum didn’t hesitate to offer for me to come by. Maybe an hour later I took a 16 hour greyhound bus to Connecticut, and stayed at her house for a week while I waited for my court date. Her & her mum were the most accommodating and helpful people ever. They made sure I was really looked after. Strangely enough afterwards I went back to PA to have my court date, and I got time served on a 15 year sentence… after only serving 3 days. That’s an entirely different story though. 11 years later, I look in the mirror in the bathroom of my own house, and still get flooded with memories from those days. Thank you Eugenia, and anyone else who looked after me in those days. I appreciate you and think about those times more than you know 🙏

@DrewIsSharing you did say what i quoted tho, Im done with this stupid conversation, you got no idea what your talking about and clearly not done even 5min of research on the topic of over hybridisation, you should talk to @LandraceBureau and actually learn something about cannabis for once.

These strains of weed used to be the best, they’d be the first pick off a menu. Now I wouldn’t even pick up the jar to smell them because I’d assume they’re mid. I think this happens over time because back when these genetics were new and fresh, all of the top master growers went out of their way to find the genetic and grow it. Slowly over years more and more of those growers find other new genetics that everyone wants, and they move on to them. Then after 10 years almost no top available brands grow the genetic at all, and the only places that do are big awful commercial grows. Then only occasionally being able to find a small time grower who’s kept the cut and actually growers it well.

Huh? I never said anything about the actual genetic itself being bad, nor did I trash anything. If you actually read the main post, you’d know I’m saying these genetics used to be grown by the best master growers in the world, and now they’re only grown by awful commercial grows. So you end up associating them with being mid, because only people who grow mid grow them. Nothing about these strains falling off has anything to do with the genetic itself. In fact like I said, all of these at one point were the best of the best.

@DrewIsSharing @mtvmingo But you don’t understand shit about this plant lol. MAC1 is a special plant. It has an extra set of chromosomes that most strains don’t have. Lot of intent behind Cap’a work there. But yeah, trash it because you tried Z.

???????????? That’s not what I said. I didn’t say nobody else loves landrace? Where tf did you get that from? I said that *everybody* doesn’t love landrace. They don’t. This is exactly what I mean. Everything I say you don’t read it properly, and for some reason you want to read it in a way that actually has nothing to do with that I said, so that you can get angry about it. When half the time I’m literally agreeing with you. Yes, theoretically genetics can be stored forever! I agree. I’ve never disagreed with this. Practically though, they aren’t. Many factors go into this, not just hybridisation. Raids, HLVD, popularity of the genetic, popularity of a cut, and even seed stock. Eventually all of those seeds will be gone, and even if the original parents are still around you can’t just recreate that exact genetic.

@redeyesjedi I agree. That’s how life works. Parents have children and then they become parents and have children. Then eventually we loose the original parents that got us there in the first place. It’s an unfortunate cycle of life.

@DrewIsSharing before I go I feel like you think I'm saying all hybrids are bad, not my point at all, even some landraces are techinally hybrids, my point is when we start doing it and start loosing genetics that even got us where we are at in the first place, we dont need to "loose flavours"😅

Everyone likes different things. I love cannabis. I personally prefer modern cannabis strains. I don’t like most landraces except for Afghan, or unless it’s in hash form. The same with some people love a rare steak, and other people prefer a processed McDonald’s burger. But someone else personally preferring a McDonald’s doesn’t affect your preference of a rare steak. I think that’s where you get hung up a lot in these conversations… while I’m just trying to chat and have a discussion, you’re trying to wrap your head around how other people don’t all love landrace and have the same preference as you. I could just as easily say the same thing to someone else if they said they didn’t like one of my favourites. Someone could say “I don’t like gelato 41” and I could reply the same with “well then you might as well say you don’t like cannabis!” But I don’t, because that’s not how it works. Not everyone else’s preferences are the same as mine. Some people love cannabis and the only weed they love to smoke is mimosa… if mimosa was the only genetic left on earth I’d jump off a bridge 💀😂

Brother, are you trolling me? Please actually read all of this, and maybe you’ll realise I understand more than you think. So when you say “danger” you mean ‘a danger to losing older genetics’? (I’ve asked you to clarify this multiple times) I did already reply to that and explained that’s quite literally how life & time works, but I digress. Cannabis is much like humans. You have two parents, and they make a child. Over time that child lives and creates more children with another parent. Then eventually the parents die and the children live on, with modified traits from their parents, and they pass that on to their children with modified traits and so on. This is also how cannabis works. This even happens over time with wild landraces in the areas they’re in over time, it’s how they got to how they are now in the first place. So even if you go into the mountains, the landrace that’s there today isn’t the exact same as the landrace that was there 50 years ago, and this is literally also because of hybridisation. We’re lucky with cannabis that we can keep parents alive with modern techniques, some being as basic as keeping the mother plant alive, and others being as advanced as tissue culture to literally preserve genetics. (Referencing the tweet I attached below 👇 ) I genuinely think it’s funny that you don’t think this is the case right now. It all depends on you, and who you know, and who you keep up with. There are stable genetics of thousands of different varieties, from wild landraces to modern hybrids. If I wanted to (which I personally don’t) I could just smoke Pakistani landrace for the rest of my life. I know people & brands that run & keep Malana, Pakistani, afghani & South American landraces. I know people who only smoke these and nothing else. Personally I don’t really like landraces, and I choose to not get them for my everyday smoke. It’s also not what I choose to review or make content about. It’s also not what’s popular, and isn’t easy access, but that doesn’t mean it’s not available anywhere. Just because I don’t make content about things, or don’t choose to smoke something as my everyday smoke, doesn’t mean I haven’t researched them & doesn’t mean I haven’t smoked them or had experiences with them. There’s more variety than ever & there’s more people trying to preserve older genetics than ever. It all just depends on who you know and what you personally decide to keep up with. The way life and time works means unfortunately we will lose flavours in between along the way, especially with plant viruses like HLVD, which is much more likely to be the reason why a genetic completely disappears. The only person with the original mother’s spot gets HLVD? Whelp, that’s it. Gone forever.

Brother, can you not read? This is the 3rd time I’m asking you, what dangers? What dangers am I supposed to be looking up? I know about and understand how cannabis hybridisation works. I have been asking you to provide me with what dangers I’m supposed to be researching, yet you don’t provide them. What do you mean by “danger”? I don’t really want to repeat myself, but you clearly didn’t read my other replies. I’ve asked multiple times for you to explain what you mean by this.

Did you even read any of what I just said? You just keep replying to many of my tweets about basically any topic and tell me to “do research” but then you don’t provide any information on what I’m supposed to be researching. Nor do you provide any information from that thing I’m supposed to be researching. What exactly am I supposed to be researching? And if you’re such a knowledgeable person and I’m such a dumb person, why are you not just explaining it to me?

Yep, there’s more flavours lost than ever, I agree. That’s how time works. As time goes on there will be even more lost flavours than than the year before, it can’t reverse. But commercially available to the public, there’s also more flavours available now than ever. Because again that’s how time works, as time goes on people create more new things. Much the same as today, there’s more humans on earth than ever before, but as each year goes on the number of humans lost is bigger than it ever has been and can’t reverse. That’s how life works. Again, I quite literally asked “the dangers?” Yet you haven’t provided me with any. Or do you mean the danger of losing old genetics?

I don’t think weed has all become similar. I guess it is if all you smoke is just renamed LCG. Zkittlez is nothing like Gelato 41, which is nothing like stardawg, which is nothing like mimosa, which is nothing like toad venom, which is nothing like apples n bananas, which is nothing like honey bananas, which is nothing like permanent marker. And these are just examples of widely commercially available strains, not niche genetics. There’s more wildly different flavours than ever really. Of course you can then choose to smoke similar crosses, you could smoke thousands of types different zkittlez, or gelatos, but you don’t have to. Just like back in the day OG is nothing like trainwreck, which is nothing like haze, which is nothing like cheese, which is nothing like Colombian gold, which is nothing like blue dream. But if you wanted to, you could’ve smoked thousands of different OGs, or thousands of different hazes, and you could’ve just as easily said 20 years ago that all these hybrids have made weed all the same… when in reality it really, really hasn’t.

@MalcyTroll I think a lot of new exotics are much, much better than stuff from 10 years ago. There’s also a lot of new exotics that are bland and not anywhere near as good as stuff from 10 years ago. Could’ve written the exact same thing 10 years ago too

@DrewIsSharing I don’t think a lot of these new exotics of the past 10 years were actually any better than the kush days. They are just different and new. Not necessarily better than anything we’ve had. I will die on the hill that kush strains are the best terp (bubba, pink, master, etc)
