@Magpie24_7 I think we need to look for a long term successor - at the very least, it would add younger talent and genuine competition for places as and when Botman is fit

🤕 The Sven Botman Dilemma: 500 Days and Counting 🇳🇱🩹 It’s the stat every Newcastle fan was dreading acknowledging, but we’ve officially hit a grim milestone. Sven Botman has now missed over 500 days of action due to injury since arriving at St. James' Park! When he’s on the pitch, there is zero debate: he is a rolls-royce of a defender. Calm, aerially dominant, and arguably one of the best technical center-backs in the league. But as the old saying goes, "the best ability is availability," and right now, the treatment room is seeing more of Sven than the Gallowgate End is. 🤕 No player wants to get injured of course but is he becoming the new Jonathan Woodgate? The comparisons are starting to feel eerily accurate. Like Woodgate back in 2003, Botman has: 🌍 World-Class Talent: A ceiling that could see him start for any club in Europe. 👮 Natural Authority: The ability to transform the entire defensive line just by being present. ⛓️‍💥 The "Glass" Factor: An injury record that makes it impossible for the manager to build a consistent long-term partnership around him. Jonathan Woodgate was arguably the most naturally gifted defender of his generation, but his body simply couldn't keep up with his talent. We are desperately hoping Botman isn't headed down that same "what if" path. 🤔 The Big Question: Can you truly build a project around a player who is sidelined more often than he’s starting? Is it time to start looking for a long-term successor, or do we keep the faith that he can finally shake the 'injury-prone' label? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. 👇 #NUFC #NUFCNews #Newcastle #EPL

@Regista10_ Basically, if Eddie stays, he can't be Eddie any more... Don't see it happening, he's too stuck in his ways, saw it at Bournemouth, seeing it now here... 😏

Let me put things another way then If Eddie Howe stays, then he is going to have to massively adapt Not pick players based on favouritism Develop a different style of football So, sign different type of players Bring back dark arts shithousery Dirch the fuckin flat midfield three! Don't have pre arranged subs on specific minutes & actually react to the game being played in front of you Develop into a coach who has no problem only having two days to prepare for games Don't put all your eggs into the next game basket & pick your team with future fixtures in mind Give fans real fuckin answers in press conferences & post game interviews Otherwise, on your bike #nufc

🗞️ Eddie retains the support of Ross Wilson and David Hopkinson. The hierarchy appreciates him 'fronting up' to fans, but the message is clear: the current 12th-place standing is unacceptable. It's a 'crossroads,' not the end of the road. There is internal concern over Howe's rigidity. The failed experiment of playing Nick Woltemade in midfield has raised questions. The board expects Eddie Howe to adapt his system to the players, not the other way around. @MsiDouglas | #NUFC

@Magpie24_7 Nope. It's past that now, sorry to say that he has to go. Anyone with an ounce of sense can see it... And if the club stick with him, we're in for another bleak few years of the same rubbish on repeat...

Despite the humiliation against Sunderland, the board is backing Eddie Howe—for now. But make no mistake, a massive "rebuild" is coming to St James' Park this summer. Here is the state of play at Newcastle United, according to the iPaper: 1. The Managerial Stance 🤝 Eddie retains the support of Ross Wilson and David Hopkinson. The hierarchy appreciates him 'fronting up' to fans, but the message is clear: the current 12th-place standing is unacceptable. It’s a 'crossroads,' not the end of the road. . 2. The Great Exodus 🛫 Prepare for a busy departure lounge. Up to 7 players could leave: Veterans: Kieran Trippier & Fabian Schar expected to depart as their contracts wind down. Loans: Aaron Ramsdale will NOT be signed permanently. Out of Favor: Joe Willock is available for transfer. The "Crown Jewels": Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali, and Tino Livramento are all attracting serious interest. The club may sell to reinvest. 3. Tactical Evolution or Bust 📉 There is internal concern over Howe’s rigidity. The failed experiment of playing Nick Woltemade in midfield has raised questions. The board expects Eddie Howe to adapt his system to the players, not the other way around. 4. New Transfer Strategy 🌍 No more 'Premier League Tax.' Newcastle will pivot toward European markets to find young, high-ceiling talent. With January savings in the bank, the FFP/PSR handcuffs are off for a major summer spree. Three weeks until the next game. Time to get it right on the grass! ⬛️⬜️ #NewcastleUnited #EPL #Transfers #Howe #Newcastle

Sienna Tindall, daughter of Jason Tindall, has shared the following message following yesterday's defeat to Sunderland: "Losing to Sunderland hurts — especially on a day that should’ve been about togetherness and arrivals. No one is pretending that result is acceptable, and the players know that better than anyone. But what’s not acceptable is turning on our own. This group of players has given everything for this club. Week in, week out, they’re out there competing across multiple competitions with a squad that simply doesn’t have the depth of some of the teams we’re up against. Fatigue is real. Pressure is real. And still, they show up and fight for the badge every single time. It’s easy to forget just how far this team has taken us. The progress, the pride, the nights we’ve all celebrated together — that didn’t happen by accident. It came from this group, this manager, this effort. Fans can be fickle in moments like this, but we’re supposed to be better than that. Behind every player and coach is a family who sees the abuse, reads the comments, and feels it too. That’s not what supporting this club should look like. We can be disappointed. We can demand better. But we don’t tear down our own. We stand behind this team. Always. 🖤🤍" 🗣️ Yes, we've stuck with this club from birth! Fickle!? FICKLE!! Newcastle United fans are certainly NOT fickle! While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including Jason Tindall’s daughter, it isn't up to any one individual to dictate how the rest of the fanbase should feel right now. This frustration isn't just a knee-jerk reaction to yesterday’s result; it’s the culmination of what feels like a managed decline that has been set in motion ever since the Cup Final. We all want the best for the club, but fans have every right to voice their concerns when they see the trajectory heading in the wrong direction over a SUSTAINED period. At the end of the day, loyalty shouldn't mean staying silent while the standards we fought so hard to establish begin to slip! It's now 22 points lost from winning positions this season alone. That's unacceptable! 🤬 #NUFC #NUFCNews #Newcastle #EPL

@ADMusgrove @EIBWPodcast @MarkCarruthers_ We have lost the edge and intensity that made us who we were, the team now has no spark, no edge, no nastiness, no spine... As I say, Eddie, thank you, sincerely - but this is the end of the road. You spent MILLIONS and took us backwards, in a PSR world we can't afford any more

@ADMusgrove @EIBWPodcast @MarkCarruthers_ Yesterday against Sunderland highlighted the issue - inconsistency. For a half, we were combative, up for it, we showed some fight (albeit with no lethal striker), but then we fell apart. We went from showing our teeth, to rolling over and showing our belly...

@ADMusgrove What is happening in that dressing room? What is Eddie saying to the players? Far too often we go in at the break in front or at least playing well and in a strong position - but come out for the second half playing like a pub team and capitulate. No passion, no desire, no spine.

A really poor afternoon for #NUFC - who yet again went into the interval as a team in a good position, only to come out in the second half 45 in a totally different manner. youtu.be/gk8S1OEZmL0?si…

Surely the fact we sit in 9th place, humiliated in the CL while we have 5 England internationals in our squad (4 Defensive players while conceding 43 goals this year) is proof that Howe is underperforming
Mark Douglas@MsiDouglas

So that's Lewis Hall, Dan Burn, Tino Livramento & Anthony Gordon in the last @England squad before the World Cup. None anywhere close to that level when he signed. BuT eDdIe HoWe IsN't A gOoD cOaCh 😬 Maybe it might take some time and a chance on the training ground grass to get Woltemade etc where they needs to be for this #nufc. Took Hall a year and look where he is now. Ofc change / evolution is required to keep pace - but plenty right too

How on EARTH can you watch last night’s game and give Burn & Trippier both a 6/10 after conceding SEVEN goals, while giving Ramsey - who had a decent game in midfield apart from one error for Barca’s last goal - a 3/10? The justifications are embarrassing. Shocking journalism.

By the way if I'm Newcastle now I'm lashing a £bn in this window and coming back with Mbappe, Pedri, Gavi, Bellingham, Rafeal Leao, Yann Sommer, Dembele and Vitinha. Fuck it, your only gonna get a fine anyway, might aswell take the piss like Chelsea and City have done for decades
