I don’t see the immediate ACC cakewalk takeover that the media does… I feel like the ACC plays better football than they typically get credit for. Hence Miami dropping games, not winning the ACC, but still be ultra competitive in the playoffs. 🧵

Franklin will eventually take it over, similar to Cristobal, but like Cristobal, I don’t think it’ll be a year one dominance.

The actual on-field product is good despite the lack of elite NFL talent. There’s a lot of well coached teams in the ACC.

@DriftVT I'm still baffled at how JF recruits like he does, and has won like he has (despite losing all but 1 big game) with his abysmal QB history. None truly develop past good high school and collegiate QBs. My Steelers took Allar, and word is he's having to be completely "reprogrammed"

The best part of the Franklin era will be re-establishing the standard for Hokie football. Even if he ends up leaving in 3-5 years, it’ll set the bar for expectations that the athletic department will have to uphold. No more excuses. Make it happen

@hitsandstatsguy Yes, but the proof of the concept has been set. There is no more falling back on excuses. If you get the right hire, you get P2 talent to Blacksburg.

@DriftVT Without the force of his personality, I have concerns that it will backslide if/once he leaves. Let’s hope the infrastructure being built around the program and the upcoming AD and Prez hires will cement it into the Administrative culture.

@DriftVT Ya I don’t think he is going to jump ship. I think he sees what happened at Penn state and realizes if he does what he did there at tech he gets a statue and his family will be celebrated forever

@DriftVT Which I think is a huge deal. Second hardest thing to do is get your program to the point where you're considered among the top programs. Hardest thing to do is lose that after getting there, which we managed to do. Rarely do you ever get a second chance to get back in...
