Commonwealth War Graves
The previously un-named grave of an Officer from Ireland, who served with the Royal Air Force has been identified and rededicated in his name more than 108 years after his death. 👉 Read more on our website. “The CWGC is honoured to have contributed to the research which has led to the identification of Lieutenant O’Neill, who made the ultimate sacrifice more than a century ago. His new headstone, crafted by our Headstone Production Unit team, will commemorate him by name at his final resting place in perpetuity. This stands as a reaffirmation of our continued commitment to the dignified commemoration of all those who fell during both World Wars.” Polly Brewster, CWGC Commemorations Case Officer. 📷Serving members of RAF Halton attending the service (Crown Copyright)

Can anyone identify the badly worn badge on this helmet? I’ve had it since the early 70’s. Is it #WWI?

The O’Rahilly Family Michael Joseph O'Rahilly, known simply as “The O’Rahilly”, pictured with his family before the Easter Rising. He was killed during the evacuation from the GPO on 29 April 1916. This is the very note he wrote to his wife while dying in a Dublin doorway.

🚨MAJOR BREAKING: Donald Trump has arrived in China to find that President XI did NOT greet him at the airport. MAGA is in spin mode heralding the “red carpet treatment,” but the visit is already at a rocky start. Instead of a presidential welcome, Trump was greeted by US Ambassador to China David Perdue; Xi’s vice president, Han Zheng; China’s Ambassador to Washington Xie Feng; and Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu. I’m sure Trump would hate if you shared this and rubbed it in all day long.

A rather disturbing development with this fanlight at 2 William Street, Drogheda. Hopefully just a temporary one and the original will reappear.

Kilsharvan, Co. Meath. Located between Duleek and Julianstown. Divided nave and chancel church, dedicated to St. John the Baptist. Much of the remains are late medieval, but there is some earlier fabric. There are many interesting features hidden by the ivy...

@stecallaghan01 After a bit of google, it seems that during the early 19th century a British cavalry squadron comprised two Troops. The establishment for a cavalry squadron was 150 exclusive of officers and NCO's, so....about 75 troopers per troop plus officers and NCO's.
