Despite ratings going up in bowl games and the NCAA Tourney, more fans are losing interest in college sports than ever before. So why the high ratings? Betting. Why is the Tourney expanding to 76 teams? Betting and TV revenue. It’s not about the fans anymore

@JTWhite_65 @Firstand16_Pod NFL product has been horrible lately. Adding the extra week really hurt the sport. After Thanksgiving there’s still 6 weeks to go in the season. The 18th game will only make it worse. There’s tons of shit late in the season irrelevant if not for gambling/fantasy.

@scuttlebutt1 @TheRealCruzOx Also talent at many schools is being consolidated and moving to the top 5-10 which is why so many blowouts first round the last couple of years which lends to my earlier point. Its’s a top heavy sport now and there’s nothing saying it won’t remain like this/get worse.

@scuttlebutt1 @TheRealCruzOx I don’t believe it ultimately will which is why I have reservations about expanding the field. Why stop at 76, why not do 96, 128, 256, etc. at some time there’s a breaking point.
