Some animals have pretty flexible genes. Dogs can mate with pretty much any other canine, so you have wolves, coyotes, domestic dogs, jackals, dingos and (rumored) foxes all interbreeding freely. Others are more restrictive. Humans are one of the very most restrictive - It is believed we can't breed with any other species, at least since the Neanderthals and Denisovans went extinct. (There are legends of chimp-human attempts but apparently these failed miserably.) This is a good thing, because it means that GameFreak's loathsome newly released lore about Pokemon-human interbreeding can in fact never happen.

@the_stle1 @MalazofWesteros Only book 1 is out so far, but it's cool. In my opinion, most of the book is good but not revolutionary--but then the ending kicks things up a notch and promises interesting things for the rest of the series.

@AlysssaHazel Yes. Low fantasy is set in the real world with fantastical elements intruding, while high fantasy is set in a secondary world. People often conflate high-/low-magic fantasy with high/low fantasy, but that's incorrect. GoT, for example, is low-magic high fantasy, not low fantasy.

When I was growing up, it never made sense to me that the KKK and the Nazis were allowed to have marches, spewing their hate openly despite their violent, hateful past. It was explained to me that under the 1st Amendment, their speech is protected, no matter how disagreeable or hateful it is. TODAY, Pam Bondi said that you can be targeted by the DOJ for free speech if you say mean things about Charlie Kirk or trump because that is "hate speech." Doesn’t that LITERALLY contradict the principle the right has been celebrating about Charlie Kirk? Isn’t that… unconstitutional?
