I scarcely see Darryl Banks mentioned amongst the best Green Lantern artists. This guy drew some of the most iconic GL covers ever and defined how Green Lantern looked for close to a decade. 90’s art is often “controversial”, Banks delivered great stuff. One of my faves.

@lanterncast My favorite part of #6 is the explanation why Abin Sur would bother to travel in a spacecraft (after some careful gaslighting).

Green Lantern history can certainly get weird fast... Let’s try this: I’ll drop twelve facts below, you tell me which one surprised you most! Or feel free to add your own/your favorites... in the replies! (click: Show more) (#GreenLanternDay is May 17th) 1. Alan Scott’s ring wasn’t from Oa at all. It was magic, a piece of the Starheart, which means the FIRST Green Lantern technically wasn’t part of the sci-fi mythology people associate with the franchise now. 2. The emotional spectrum accidentally implies the DC Universe runs on color-coded feelings like a cosmic mood ring...and somehow it works. 3. Guy Gardner was once canonically revealed to be part alien with weapons morphing out of his skin because DC looked at Guy and thought: “What if we made him MORE ridiculous?” Because 1990's. 4. Mogo helps train Lanterns… by putting them through psychic tests of will on his surface. 5. Rot Lop Fan is a Green Lantern from a species with no concept of light. So instead of a Green Lantern (since he cannot conceptualize of 'Green' or a 'Lantern'), he became the F-Sharp Bell, complete with his own oath! 6. The Blackest Night prophecy technically started years before the Blackest Night event actually happened. Geoff was planting pieces of it as early as Green Lantern: Rebirth. And the root of the story? The original seeds were planted by Alan Moore DECADES before. 7. In the throes of grief, Hal Jordan once created an entire fake city and population out of ring energy during Emerald Twilight. Which is honestly a horrifyingly insane display of willpower when you think about it for more than two seconds. 8. The Corps once had a sentient mathematical equation as a Lantern. Dkrtzy Rrr baby! 9. Sodam Yat was basically positioned as “what if a Daxamite became the ultimate Green Lantern,” which means DC briefly toyed with the idea of a character who was essentially Superman with a power ring...and then eventually also tossed the Ion entity into him. Power creeping at its finest. 10. Krona is responsible for the creation of the multiverse because he basically couldn't help himself from doomscrolling the origins of the Universe. 11. Tomar-Re failed to stop Krypton from exploding. Meaning a Green Lantern was actually present for Superman’s origin and still couldn’t save the planet. 12. Dex-Starr became one of DC’s most dangerous rage-powered killers because some jackass threw a kitten off a bridge...and somehow the story is genuinely tragic instead of stupid. ("I good kitty.")

@DandadanBrazil The end of this arc should be Aira getting rejected, Okarun losing the adventures of Pinocchio powers, and him temporarily leaving. Put the focus on everyone else, and Momo in particular, without him there.

The funniest part of the Dungeons & Dragons satanic panic is that the people who believed it never actually read the rules.

@John_Cyrano Running Keep right now, only the 3 toughest caves to go. Players have definitely been humbled a few times by creatures they might normally look down on.

@PrivateNagatoro So I started all over, and as the poster says, it add all the context in the world. Soon after that I found your posts, quite a bit ahead, but read both. This series is what got me reading romcoms, and I’ll always come back to it. Thanks again!

Wanted to ramble a bit here with the preschooler pea brain of mine. I first discovered this manga back in like, maybe late 2017 ish. And I only came across it when I saw a pic of Nagatoro in her swimsuit 🤣 from one of the bonus contents early on. So upon seeing that, I was hooked and just started reading, it was one of the first mangas i actually remembering waiting for new releases as well. And as soon as vol 1 was released in the States, i got back into my scanning. Nagatoro is such a sweet manga, starts off with a shy introverted guy who lives in his own little bubble and afraid of branching out. And in comes this girl like a hurricane that completely rocks his world and slowly helps him come out of his shell, all the while she deals with internal struggles herself. And yeah she IS bit of a bully in the beginning, this was just her way of showing affection since she couldn't properly express it without coming off as too.... girly? Hahaha. They have some ups and downs, challenges, make new friends. And along the way, they push eachother forward a bit more to become a better version of themselves. Senpai wanting to become an amazing artist and Nagatoro wanting to be an Olympic athlete. It honestly deserves all the love, support and so much more, and I hope it continues to bring more people in. It's extremely special to me, its cause of this series that helped inspired some of my own OCs, and even meeting some cool people. One person especially, who i love very much, and this manga means so much to them as well. This won't be the end of Nagatoro posting on my account as I do my Koi posts too hahha, so you'll still be seeing Nagatoro and the gang. Not in an official sense, but still doing fun stuff. ^-^ Well thats it for my Ted Talk, I'm going to start uploading the scans to a drive so you all can enjoy it too. I'll let you all know when I do. It's like near 1 am as i type this so forgive me for any typos and weird phrasing.

@PrivateNagatoro Thanks for posting the chapters and also your final thoughts. I read Nagatoro with online translations. Quite some time after that I stumbled on this post. What I had read online did not include the one panel referenced here (or I missed them).

@memeslich I also had an aunt that warned my mother about “evil D&D.” We played in our basement, and my mother eavesdropped on our games at first. When my aunt inquired later, my mother told her “they eat pizza, drink soda, laugh and act stupid. So, normal.”

Did you know you can play classic versions of D&D without needing Wizards of the Coast's permission? You don't even have to pretend or "file the serial numbers off". Hell, I'll give you five free 1e AD&D modules if you'll throw me a sub over on YouTube, too! :)
