The biggest concern for Leicester is that they have already cashed in on future instalments from Premier League parachute payments and player sale instalments by selling those sums to MacQuarie bank. Borrowed a net £85m in the last two seasons, and wage bill of over £100m in the Championship last time they were there. At end of 2017/18 Leicester had accumulated profits of £25 million, by end of 2024/25 that had turned into an accumulated loss of £375 million. I'll be chatting to @talkSPORT with @JeffStelling and wee Ally McCoist at 6:30 tomorrow morning about the financial impact of relegation to League One.

If you’re not already fired up for tomorrow, listen to this. I’m fuming. Listen to what these ex-players and pundits think about our chances. Listen to what they think about our fanbase. Listen to what they say our reaction will be if we go 1–0 down. Literally sniggering at us. They seem to think our players are going to hate playing in that stadium tomorrow and that we will make it toxic. Honestly, after hearing that, I’ve never been more determined to show everyone exactly who we are. We are the Tottenham, And we are the best, We are the Tottenham, So fuck all the rest.

@RamblingSingh It’s more about a perceived simpler time. All cultures do it, including Punjabis.

Who does that? If anything its nostalgia of a time when Panjab wasn't partitioned, f all to do with being poorer. I question it because I'm British, live here and have found it odd that much of the nostalgia is wrapped up in wanting to be poor.
G Jatt@GJattwb

@RamblingSingh So when punjabis have nostalgia of Rangla Panjab 60-70 plus years ago when it was much poorer than what it is now…. You would have no problem with that. If British People have the same nostalgia, you seem to question it. Wonder why

@RamblingSingh Conquest vs Colonialism. Why is one any less justifiable/excusable than the other? I think it’s important to have this debate so not to risk the diaspora getting lost/enveloped in victim based narrative whilst benefiting from all the positives of the very society we wish to decry

@DuckMT7 That suggests imperial hierarchy but not colonialism in the same sense as the British global empire.

@RamblingSingh The Sikh Empire would have expanded beyond the restraints of Punjab’s political influence if the political, military and logistical reality would have allowed. Or, (and I ask this sincerely), is there any evidence to suggest otherwise?

@DuckMT7 Not quite. Conquest and colonialism are not the same thing. The Sikh Empire expanded within the regional politics of Punjab. The British conquered Punjab as part of a global imperial system built on extraction, subordination and loss of sovereignty.

@RamblingSingh And isn’t this what the original pioneers who travelled to the West realised and understood (implicitly), so it’s a little retrospective for the descendants (me included) to now cry Empire from our positions of insulated Western comfort?

Great Christmas example yesterday of the generational disconnect over house prices. Discussion over moving house with an elderly relative who probably last lived in London in the 90s. "Why don't you buy a house in Highgate?" The houses in Highgate:

Taxi drivers and passengers of a certain age will recall the old St Pancras taxi rank, with the tiny taxi roadway if you wanted to exit into Midland Road, which was then two-way. You would enter or leave the station through the arch which is now part of the hotel.
