The vote in favor of renewing the earnings tax in Kansas City makes me think there should be strict rules for who can vote on tax legislation. My suggestions are:
1: you are a citizen
2: you pay more in taxes than you receive in government benefits
3: you cannot be a government employee
4: you cannot work for a non-profit organization
Specifically for earnings taxes I would add:
5: you are currently employed
6: you both live and work in the area that is considering the earnings tax.
Also for earnings taxes of workers that live outside of the tax zone and so they can’t vote on the tax, the employer of the non-local worker should have to pay the tax instead of the employee. This would turn the locality into a real economic zone that charges access to the zone.

Here are the reasonable qualifications for voting on taxes of any kind:

@jitsegroen @elonmusk UN citizen resentful of globalism? Wild take.

Hey @elonmusk please stop auto translating everything. It is very annoying to us Europeans ..

@JohnHoltNews @fox4kc I’m curious to know if the 75% currently pay net taxes or currently work now.
English

@found_it_funny Surely it wouldn’t take that many soldiers or ammunition. The homeless don’t have that much to counter with.
English

@crash_the_dog @ClayWendler If the government isn’t laying off staff they can still pay for the roads. Governments just refuse to operate according to a budget.
English

@ClayWendler Fuck off, dude. This is how roads stay paved.

@1w0wzerz Golf for me is like this. For people that shoot between 85-110 this is probably a common experience. To shoot better than 85 though you likely need to be playing regularly or previously you were likely so dialed in you were shooting in the 70s.

@ryan_lofthouse @Saam_Orlong Nah just like interested in the universe he crafted and curious about the mechanics he’s thought of to resolve the conflicts. A lot of the fluff in epic fantasy is irrelevant to me. Sanderson’s fluff had just been extra grating with the psycho babble.

@DuganStarr @Saam_Orlong Sounds like you need to see a therapist. 😉

@Kacen The Star seems very liberal to me that mostly just sees their headlines and I don’t open many of their articles.
English

New: Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas' administration audited The Star’s coverage for bias against city government, according to the staffer who performed the review and internal emails.
But Mayor Lucas denies ordering it. #moleg #mogov kansascity.com/news/politics-…

@GlitchTribusky @enjoyer_liberty If you don’t want kids or a spouse become a priest or a nun. People that live secular lives and don’t take part in family life just don’t have a proper grounding of their place in the world. My choice is the devalue their perspective.

@DuganStarr @enjoyer_liberty When did having a wife a kids become the barometer for qualifying worldviews

@SStricklandMMA Would be better than transing or trafficking them that’s for sure.

I’m guessing it’s an issue of them only getting about 20-30 hours a week where they can make money from dinner service. So they need double a normal salary per hour. They also work more hours outside of dinner service where they can’t make money from tips. That said that challenge should be reflected in the cost of menu items and passes into all of the restaurant staff.
English

Assuming these people were at the restaurant for 2 hours
A $60 tip means this server made $30/hour off this ONE TABLE
Is that not enough for a waiter to make?
Does being a waiter really need to be a $150/hour job?
The entitlement behind a lot of tipping culture is insane

@garrytan What about organizations that are bureaucratic and different groups are so insular and protected from consequences that there is no way to force cooperation on a 1:1 level?
English

@EndWokeness If only migrants were held equally accountable to the law and no AGs or judges pulled shenanigans to excuse them from consequences.
English

@MayorLucasKC @KansasCity More than half of people in the metro are done welcoming people that aren’t self sufficient and ready to follow the rule of law and integrate into American culture. Enclaves of foreignness has shown itself to be disastrous to this country.

Kansas City has achieved #CertifiedWelcoming status! 🌟 We are committed to advancing inclusivity, a sense of belonging, and a hospitable atmosphere for ALL residents.

@elonmusk My car insurance company doesn’t recognize FSD at all. And what happened to Tesla insurance? It’s not available in most states.
English

If you want to know what’s really safe or what’s not, just try buying insurance for it
X Freeze@XFreeze
Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) is currently ~9x safer than the average human driver Because of this massive safety advantage, auto insurance providers like Lemonade are now offering Tesla owners up to a 50% discount on their per-mile premiums when FSD is engaged Choosing Tesla FSD driving is not just safer, but it also directly saves you money
